1 per class.

The ability to create your own protagonist is an important and valuable feature, the marketing shouldn't act like it's a bad thing and try to pretend it doesn't exist.

I think even this runs the risk of confusing gamers. If they see an edgy, cool female Mage as one of these "Inquisotor molds," they may think it is like Diablo and that you can only be a Mage of you are female. Unless they have a "mold" of each class with male and female... but then at that point, you run the risk of players saying "wait, where were all of those cool characters during those cutscenes/marketing materials? Are they not in the game?"

The only thing about the E3 trailer that got me excited was the figure in the sandstorm (which we can assume is the protagonist), simply because it left everything to the imagination. Have the companions/NPCs sell the cinematics and marketing - players will be guaranteed to see them - and leave the hero obscured. That's my best suggestion.

Yeah, cosplayers are the only ones they actually bother talking to anymore. That's what direct engagement is all about... even though we're right here... every day... :(

I know, they don't seem like they're here all that much. It COULD just be that they're busy, I suppose.

WE MISS YOU GAIDER AND ALLAN AND LAIDLAW (LOW???)

I think they are laying low and working hard after the E3 reveal. The teaser video represented a ton to work left to be done on the game, so even though Fall 2014 sounds far away to fans, it is going to be very tight for them for quite some time.

Besides, Laidlaw was in here last weekend, basically only saying "I can't say anything." Which you can only say so many times without becoming bored or without saying something that people take as something more. When Gaider interjected his feedback back in this Winter about why the marketing of the game was so quiet, he stated he thought it was because they were going to do a reveal that would answer all questions and be more than just a teaser. Turns out that was just his personal opinion instead of the set-in-stone plan, so people had incorrect expectations about the nature of the reveal.

Things like that probably discourage devs from posting all that frequently here.

Although I would, in all honesty, really expect more involvement of the Community Managers here. Given that this is the most true version of the community, rather than Twitter or Tumblr of Facebook, etc.

i hope the protagonist is not showed at all, or is both male or female.
but in all truth, I really don't care. never really pay attention to the vanilla PC.

it took me the third game to understand the guy on ME1/2 was supposed to be Shepard. always guessed it was or some character I never recruited, or a pre-game version og Kaidan, who resulted different in the game. no, never looked at the N7 simbol on the armor.

In Diablo 2, you can either be a female elemental sorceroress or a male necromancer. You couldn't be a female necromancer (or a male elementalist). That's all I meant by that.

I just want them to use a Rogue this go around. DAO was warrior. DA2 was mage. Its time for a rogue! And they should release 2 different versions of each trailer, one using the male and the other using female.

 A Legolas-esque rogue please :)

Honestly though, I would like the protag. to be (or rather remain) hooded. And, if possible not be recognizable as belonging to any class - I know, this is rather stretching it but, meh, might as well :P

I'd like it if they went the Origins route where they had a set protag for the CGI trailers, but for game play trailers they have random appearances. I'd still enjoy if I could model my character off of the protag from the CGI trailer though.

I'm surprised marketing for games with customizable protagonists doesn't sell that point more. I can see why they think they need an iconic image to market the game with ( ie. rugged white man), but they would broaden their consumer base even more if they make a trailer capitalizing on how the player is able to tell a story and make a character of their choosing. There are mostly likely people who would pass by a game like ME or DA because they're bored of white straight men, but they would buy it if they knew they weren't limited to a single race or gender.
