So I'd really like a custom avatar. Like really bad. And this was awfully handy in explaining how to do it. In theory. I've done it a couple of times to the letter (as much as I could, it mentions PNG but both my pics are JPEG for instance) but it doesn't work. I think the problem crops up where my character profiles never update. Ever. It also takes forever to upload them in the first place, for instance the latest character on my profile is almost a year old even though I've played Origins just the other day and I have it set to connect automatically. So the part in Cobra's blog about deleting the character profile and changing the picture and then saving and waiting for the BSN to update wouldn't work because that character just wouldn't ever upload again.

SO to try and get around it I figured that if I disconnected my game from automatically updating profiles, made a new character, made a save, changed the pic, switched the connection back on and made another save I'd get the same result. But no dice. The characters faces aren't there anymore but neither is anything else. It's a little empty block.

The dimension of the pic is 146x146, and I tried to get it as small as possible at 44.4kb. Though I've seen people with some pretty awesome gif avatars so I dunno how important that last bit is.
