Hey Guys
I recently obtained the Dungeons and Dragons Anthology containing BG1, 2, Icewind Dale1, 2, ToEE and Planesscape Torment
Installation worked pretty well as expected and I can run the games (as expected) but after a few seconds the games start lagging and than they eventually crash. i have read up on how to run BG1 but i happens with all the games
I´m running them on Win 7 x32 and i havent found anybody sharing the same problems so im aksing for help here.
I´m really unexperiecens when it comes to all that system-graphic voodoo whatsoever so i would be really thankfull if anybody had some ideas in words i can understand
thanks XAOX

Does this also happen with ToEE, or just the Infinity Engine games? If not, which IE games? Did you buy those games on GoG? Did you recently update your videodrivers?
Lag is often caused by bags of Holding and the like, but in your case the game not just lags, but crashes. I suspect an issue with your videocard. Could you post the specs of your card?
Try running Baldurs Gate II with Hardware Acceleration off, Software Transparant BLT off, 16 bit colors
EDIT: did you install any mods? If so, could you post your WEIDU-log?

thanks for the reply
I bought the game from a german plattform called Gameware, its a two disk set which contains all these cool games plus all the addons you need to play them on modern PCs (at least they say so)
ToEE works perfectly fine, it seems there is some kind of problem with the infinity engine.
So far ive installed BG 1 and 2, Planescape and ToEE, of which only ToEE works. I dint try out BG 1 yet, because I´ve already found out that it doesnt work proberly with windows7.
Which brings us to the next point: I didnt do anything exept installing the games, no mods, nothing.
My Graphic drivers are updated, but I cant change the Colordepths to 16Bit, the buttons is greyed.
Same with Acclerated Hardware thingie, Im not sure if i found it (because of the language barrier) but if it is that thing i think it is ôo then i cant turn it off.
I would like to post my WEIDU log, but i dont have a plan what that is. (PS: Same with the video specs. if you could shortly describe what it is then I will hopefully be able to post them)

Edit: I just tried out BG1 and it works pretty well, no lags, no crashes (so far) exept when I´m in the Iventory, Char sheet and such. I still didnt try to add or mod something, althought ive read that it might not wokr without some changes
Edit # 2: I was wrong about BG 1, it lags too. only so short that I didnt really mind.

ok, try this:
1 -completely uninstall your IE games. Delete everything and use a program like Regcleaner or Revo Uninstaller to remove all traces of the game from your registry
2 - Reinstall BG (without TotSC). Do NOT install to the default Program Files location, since this can cause loads of problems under Windows7. Install to C:\\Games\\Baldurs Gate .instead.
3 - start the game. Create or import a character, let the prologue play and do a quicksave. Exit the game.
4 - install ToTSC.
5 - Check the version number. Its in the bottom left of the options screen.
6 If not version 5512, you need to patch the game. DL and install the patch (you can find the link elsewhere on this forum).
7 - Repeat step 3
Do the same for BGII-SoA (but with different directories, ofc).
Let's see if this solves the problem. Whatever you do, NEVER install an IE game under Program Files in Vista, W7 or W8.

Essentially the same procedure. All your problems MAY be solved by installing to a custom folder and patching your games. If you keep having problems, there are a couple of other things we can try.

If you still have problems try to get one game working and apply any improvements to the others if you make progress.
I would suggest starting with BG2 if that is the case. Post some of the values from the baldur.ini file in the game folder, preferably after a re-install to c:\\games as suggested. e.g. these are the ones I'd check (don't assume my values would work on your install, I had to customise for each machine to find what worked best with them).
Install Type=3
BitsPerPixel=32
16Bit Textures=1
3D Acceleration=0
GLSetup Driver=-1
Maximum Frame Rate=30
Full Screen=1
Resolution=1024
General=1
Graphics=3
Sound=3
Environmental Audio=1
In my case I have access to 3 oldish laptops.
Mine is fine at 1024x768 if I have hardware acceleration switched off. If I switch it on the game lags as you describe and is worse when accessing the inventory or menu screens. The graphics chipset is an Intel 945,so circa 2007 I believe.
An (even) older laptop plays acceptably at 640x480 resolution, slowly at 800x600 and unacceptably at 1024x768.
A slightly newer laptop can run the game with 2d or 3d at 1024x768 at somewhere between the two speeds of my laptop.
