lolque. 'doesn't fit with the rest of the face'

This..... doesn't make sense. There are lots of women with jaws like Cass.

'doesn't fit with the rest of the face'

NewMorrigan seems the same. Looks like the standard we're getting with DAI.

No, but Cassandra is. To me, at least.

Funny how things are, huh

Going by this thread, plenty of people find her easy on the eye.

Beside, she doesn't look that much different from her DA2 look to me (in the pre-alpha). People just have bad memories, just like they didn't realize it was the same VA or claims that the accent is different (it's not, go play the start of DA2 to compare). Angles and lighting can make the same person look totally different, the same thing is true here.

Yes, but their jaws don't look like they were lifted from another woman's face.

if you say so...but it still seems she could sink the titanic with that jaw

We shouldn't be allowed to change our companions that much

___________

Modding Companions is simply awesome for some of us.
Play 1 - keep it original -(unless someone really bugs you) and then
next playthrough 2, you mod it.
Change the appearance somewhat (or alot) and the whole experience can be quite different, and more to our OPTIMIZED personal liking.

I got a "big kick" seeing the range of mods for Aveline on DragonNexus.
As much as I liked the origginal, I modded her for playthrough 2.
Same could maybe be done for DAI:D

I think she looks fine.

I also believe that because most video games churn out so many unnaturally beautiful women, that when you see someone who DOESN'T fit the golden ratio - all hell breaks loose.

Heaven forbid a woman not fit your unfair standard of beauty in a video game. If she were male no one, and I mean no one, would complain about his features not being unnaturally beautiful.

This whole thread is absurd. Yay or nay? This is not a beauty contest. I hope nothing changes about her because there is nothing to change.

I think they're supposed to be gracefully built, in DA2 elves were indeed just anorexic, at least the female ones. But that wasn't the only thing that was off about Elves....
(Now I want to see some fat elves just for the hell of it.)

On Cass, I think she looks fine as is. I would just maybe change the eyebrows.

Looking at the PAX footage more and stills, she definitely looks better than the stills we have from the reveal trailer which may be a result of the angle and lighting, but her eyebrows are still far too exagerated for me. If they gave her more even ones that aren't continually furrowed I think it would improve her overall appearance greatly.

Her eyes in DA2 were far more serious and contemptuous looking while now they're much more hardened and not serious but tough looking. In DA2 she had the look of someone who you shouldn't take lightly, her stare said she wasn't messing around and could back up her threats if necessary, now though she doesn't look quietly menacing but is just another grizzly and tough person, which might be more fitting to her role in DAI, but it clashes with my perception of her from DA2.

I find this thread odd.

"She has a giant jaw! It's huge!"

It's not that big, really. She does have very strong features though. I agree.

"Well you should change them!"

Why?

"So she would be prettier!"

What makes you think that making her conventionally pretty was the artists' primary goal?

"If she's not pretty enough, I won't want to have sex with her!"

I'm sure she'll be terribly disappointed, assuming she's even a romance.

"It doesn't matter if she's a romance!"

Ah. Well, you should probably know that we don't evaluate every character in the game by how pretty or how handsome they are. The artists are interested in making distinctive characters, not supermodels.

"Those are not mutually exclusive!"

No, I wouldn't normally think so either, but perhaps we're not reading the same thread.

Personally, I think there's bound to be some tweaking in the months to come-- so feel free to comment away-- but if anyone believes that tweaking will be aimed solely at making her more "pleasing to the eye" they've got another thing coming. Just FYI.

Agree completely EndiunRaylene. As you said, it looks too exaggerated and menacing. I'd much prefer her tough characterization to show via personality rather than on first glance.

Thats quite a daring approach to game design nowadays. This pleases me greatly. ;)

This! And Thank You David. (*Pause*) Although I must admit I'm kind of hoping she indeed has a Romance plot with the PC and that it's deep and complicated and isn't Aveline all over again.

Who said it is a beauty contest? People are giving their opinion on Cassandra's new look, and they have the right to do so.

If people have a right to give an opinion on Cassandra's looks then others have a right to criticize that opinion. Personally, invoking natural rights when indulging in 'Hot or Not?' for video game characters strikes me as overkill.

I'm not sure what your point is actually. Yes, you can criticize another person's opinion, but what would that achieve? Except prove that people have different opinions?

What does it achieve to say you don't like Cass' jaw?

I don't hang around message boards to achieve things. Heck, half the time, I'm at work and should probably be doing something else.

Cassandra already looks pretty to this person.  Not classically hot, not a lingerie model, but in a tough, capable manner.  An attractive woman not afraid to dirt, mud, and blood.  She's seen a lot, done a lot, and has the scars to prove it.

She does  appear...I dunno...more hardened than her appearance in DA2.  But then, then so does Varric.  I don't know if this is deliberate, an aspect fo the new engine, or what.  But it seems to make sense.  And it's still undeniably her.  I've certainly seen more dramatic, and less appealing, changes to characters than this!

and "easy on the eyes" does not necessarily mean "Megan fox lookalike"

I find, for instance, Jennifer Tilly incredibly attractive and the rest of my family thinks she is
passable at best but that does not take away from the fact that, somehow, in this new visual incarnation she kinda looks like him
