This depends. I've noticed most male gamers really don't give a crap if a guy is half-naked as long as he doesn't hit on them.

They didn't care when Zevran did that.

Although to be fair he wasn't scantally clad...

i liked zevran, he felt....all over the place

I wasn't really here for Origins. But I remember people losing it because Anders flirts with you that one time.

The thing with Anders was more "The hell is going on here, he's nothing even close to the character he was in Awakening" than it was "OMG HE'S GAY GET HIM AWAY FROM ME"

Though the fact his introduction constantly brought the latter fact up -and- gave you a hefty rep hit for rejecting him also helped alienate a lot of players. On top of that whole character bait-and-switch thing.

no one likes that, no one EVER likes that. same thing with merril. DA:O? competant level headed mage. DA2? scatterbrained bloodmage who needs twine to  not gwet lost:pinched:

Obviously, this doesn't speak for 100% of people 100% of time, but overall, this phenomenon is well documented, and not news. There's a lot of information out there, and it's easy to find, if you care to educate yourself.

Here's a place to start.

I've heard/watched that, actually.

But I'm looking for real data here, not editorialism.

Err what?
Because someone decided to use two body types to make a bunch of screenshots you are trying to say that those are the only two that exist?

As far as i know SWTOR originally only have two body types, later is patched, i maybe wrong though

If you were to actually scroll down far enough on your first link you actually SEE some of the different ones too.

Look at that model that have super big chest, i never see that in any Star Wars movies, the only big creature is Wookies and they are not body builders

Have you ever even touched the game and made a character on it? Or are you randomly grabbing screenshots from across the internet?

I don't play SWTOR, i only watched someone play and do you see i posting screenshots here? I just share a link

No need to be defensive, the obvious things are obvious

An argument based almost entirely on the fact that he suddenly expresses a fondness for dick. Which isn't even a retcon, since it does not negate the fondnes for vagina he expressed earlier.

"What the ****, Anders? You said in Awakening that you liked Coke and now all of a sudden you drink Pepsi as well? YOU CAN'T HAVE BOTH, PICK ONE AND STICK TO IT!!!"

Hardly the only reason... Awakening Anders was more snarky, more care free, looked different and had a different voice actor. It all adds up to the impression that he is different.

People change. Anders went through a lot in the time between Awakening and DA2 that we did not see. As it is, his character within Awakening was ridiculously inconsistent.

looked different

Of course he looked different. He didn't have any sort of "look" in DA:O at all. He was a white Duncan, just like Velanna was a blonde Morrigan.

People get haircuts.

and had a different voice actor.

James Bond has been played by a dozen different actors, he's still the same character.

It all adds up to the impression that he is different.

Not really.

I attributed some of Anders' personality change to the fact that he now has a spirit/demon living in him.

It's not just "What the hell, he's gay now" but "This is Anders? When did he turn into a moping emo terrorist instead of a fun-loving snarky rebel?"

And while you can go "but but but development" it's supposed to be "show, not tell".

No worries, and I figured as much - the four different body types have actually always been there, or at least as long as I've played it (since the headstart, so it's entirely possible beta had less options, but I doubt it).
In the screenshots Bleetman posted earlier you actually see some of the different ones, the top one being the one you've mentioned several times - body type 3, the Herculean one, but if you scroll down to the next screenshot with the skinny blue guy (a Chiss) he actually has body type one, and the sniper and one of the shirtless guys in one your links are both #2's - they are just further down the page.

Anders never stopped cracking jokes, even into Act 3. And how is a "rebel" distinct from a "terrorist" in any functional sense?

And while you can go "but but but development" it's supposed to be "show, not tell".

They did show. It was all right there on the screen for you.

Lets not forget about the insignificant possession detail either. I hear that has the potential to change a person.

That dude also didn't have a grumpy spirit inside him. So. You know. People change when they're possessed.

When he became possessed by a Fade spirit??? Like, that is the moment. Right there. Clear as day.
And, look! The perfect opportunity to post one of my favorite TV Tropes pages, Your Terrorists Our Are Freedom Fighters.

Origins was a pretty ugly world.

What she said. Merill actually walks you very slowly through her reasoning repeatedly too. And you seriously think you knew Merill after less than an hour? I know I fondly recall all the deep conversations I had with her in Origins.

Erm guys maybe there were dwarf women in da2, but you just missed them cuz quoting Aragorn "its the beard"

And I think it's a little unrealistic to compare modern day martial artists to the medieval warrior types. Remember that back then they carry around with them a hefty weight of plates and chain mails and they do tend to make you gain quite a bit of muscle mass.

True that Zevran is kind of shameless in his flirting but he always asks how you feel about it when you bring it up and asks permission to do/say various things. Also, as someone else said, he doesn't hit on you right off the bat... Okay, if your Warden is female he says you're a sex goddess when you talk to him after the ambush but he doesn't say anything like that if your Warden is male.

With Merril, what bothered me wasn't the blood mage thing, more like the first thing out of her mouth in DA2 is a ramble about not knowing whether to ask your name or not because she doesn't know if it'll upset you, followed by telling herself to shut up. That's the moment that cements your first impression of a character. In Origins she seemed more with her head on her shoulders, more responsible (maybe it was also due to the VA, I don't know) as she doesn't want Fenarel to come because it's dangerous and won't back down until you snap at her or over-rule her with Marethari's permission.

I CAME BACK!

she expressed no interest in going back to the cursed cave after exploring it with you in the dalish origins quest, AND she doesn't want to take what's his name along with you till you over ride her cause she believes it is too dangerous.

i re-iterate, went from level headed keeper aprentice to missing more than a few screw blood mage

I think Zevran does the same thing. Though there may be a dialog option that avoids a disapproval hit with him.

Zevran's is trickier to hit, since his isn't in the very first conversation after you recruit him. You've also got several chances beforehand to let him down gently, without telling him "Ew, go away" like you're forced to with Anders.

Actually, with Zevran, the only thing he does is the same thing every other LI does -- ask you to go to the tent if you haven't once you hit a certain approval level.  You have to have the romance started for this to happen.

And, with Zevran, every time you accidently hit a romance starter line (and granted, there is a romance starter line in just about every dialog with him -- the same as Alistair if you're female), his line immediately afterwards will be confirming this, and the warden can always say that he/she is not interested in this.

Now, the problem came in for people when they went for maximum approval because starting the romance of course gave you much higher approval, and also, if you accidently started it and then when Zevran would confirm the romance, if your warden was all, "I didn't mean THAT" you would get an approval hit.  But if you made it clear from the beginning that you had no interest in him, this cut off all possibility of romance, forever, and the romance starter lines disappeared.

But whatever -- people were LIVID when they ended up in the tent.  Not all -- some thought it funny, some thought it sweet, but there were plenty of very loud people complaining about being tricked.

Somehow, the people affected by bugs like the Leliana ninja-romance bug and the Leliana-breakup-doesn't-work bug were often annoyed at this, but there was not the outright anger that so many of the Zevran-massage-getters had.

With Anders, you didn't have to have to ever have flirted with him to get his flirts -- this is different than Zevran where the warden has to flirt first.
