On the appearance of men and women in DA: I

I'd argue that Heathcliff is a better example of a guy being a female fantasy. Not objectified mind, because his appeal rests in him NOT being an object you can control, but he does set a bar that is impossible* for men to reach.

"Blond twink" is not a common male power fantasy in my experience. I think in this instance, it's safe to say the character is sexualized, as are many other characters in Loren the Amazon (and other games by the same developer), which heavily advertise the romance aspect of their products, and generally place their ads on websites that heavily feature LGBT themes.Foopydoopydoo wrote...
^ As I'm sure others have mentioned before that guy's physical appearance conforms more with a male power fantasy than a female sex fantasy. Not that I think women in general would complain about some dude with a rippling six pack and flowing blonde locks but it's secondary.

Compare the above character to a similarly naked fantasy male, like, say, Conan the Barbarian...

The difference is pretty obvious, I think.

I know aside from law and order and miami vice they pretty much suck,
But to make a point the amount of modelesqe female cops on those shows is ridiculous by comparison to real life.
Same with law shows, doctor shows and whatever else. The same could largely be said for dudes but they do use men with "characteristic" steryotypes looks when they want to fit a particular point.
Fact is overall all media, not just video games, people would rather look at the aesthetically pleasing than the homely.
Even if it means that every episode or movie has a military or female prison that looks more like a Victoria's secret catalog than the actual reality.
That's just the way it is, not just games. If you want different you should make an ugly protagonist or just stick to books where you can dream up your own look despite the wordson the page. Or edit the book in pen.

Men have a more uniform version of what a female they would engage in a sex fantasy with. Not that women don't or wouldn't but just that women have a more varied desire when it comes to sex fantasies not only the appearance (although you would be hard pressed to find a girl who wants to have sex with a fat blob beer gut dude over a washboard abs fit and in shape dude), but for women there is variety other than a visually stimulating partner(s) for what turns them on.
And that's just as a practical matter harder to reach in a game that is mass marketed to reach as many people as possible.
Personally, I feel that's why bioware should not only have attractive people of both genders but also different situations like dao, and focus less on cutscenes (although I do applaud their move to tasteful nudity in this game). I would rather have 30 "fade to black" scenarios throughout the game for men women and subhuman dregs (the other species), than 4-5 detailed ones. Maybe it's just me I would rather have more role playing options to define a character (male or female) and the type of activity they chose or not chose to engage in as "not doing" defines them as much as anything else.

Holy necropost...
Though it's pretty awesome that the OP's request actually did come to pass. Go Bioware. ![]()
