Eh might not be too much value to add, but Bryce Cousland wasn't ugly. Also their son Fergus doesn't look like his parents at all. I mean, both have blue grey eyes yet Fergus has brown eyes.....

I always mod Anora's hair to be black. She still doesn't look related to her father but at least she's got his hair colour.

Tired old meme that is not true.

Sex can grab attention but it does not necessarily 'sell'.

Someone should tell that to the makers of Dragon's Crown, I've been seeing fan art of their Sorceress before I even knew there was a game coming out.

I'm sure getting those things to jiggle was near the top of the priority list.

People are more likely to buy something if it's aesthetically pleasing.
This is why the the pornography industry is worth billions.

I'm pretty sure wanking is why porn is worth billions. I'm sure video games do it for some people, but I imagine they go the rule 32 route for it instead of buying the game.

Anora being as power hungry as Howe and her father? Weird, I didn't play that game. The Anora I know was simply an intelligent, capable woman that didn't want some inexperienced buck who was more boy next door than leader on the thrown, as that could very, very easily ruin the country she loved and had ruled over while her idiot husband was off acting like a man-child.

But ignoring the the Anora argument...

I think Bioware is one of the better companies for various looking characters/making women characters that matter beyond their appearances, and who don't sexify characters unless it's in character for that character. Aveline isn't conventionally 'beautiful' so I've been told, and while people throw fits over Isabela, what she wears is as in character for her as you can get.

...Maybe I don't have the right to an opinion on this kind of topic, though, because I'm someone who doesn't start to find anyone physically attractive until I know their personality and have become attached to them. Before that I don't even class people as good looking or bad looking.

They look a fair amount alike, she has his shaped face and... ok, I may be ever so slightly obsessed with AJ so I'll bow out, LOL! :innocent:

I see ugly people every day in real life. I don't want them populating my fictional fantasy world.

Alternatively, why doesn't Loghain bear more of a resemblance to his daughter? Why couldn't he be handsome? Is it because he is a (male) villain, and therefore he *must* be ugly? Is it because his ambition and quest for power trumps his physical appearance?

Loghain wasn't on a quest of ambition and power; everything he did was to save Ferelden, in his point of view, at least.

I'm more concerned with the body structure then face tbh. Bioware tends to make all females look skinny and make males buff and don't get me started on what they did to poor femshep in ME2/ME3.

Look at Rocksteady and look at their Batman design. That is what buff means. Lots of guys can look as muscular as the DA men without the help of drugs and with an hour or so of working out per day.

Not sure if trolling or not.

They look identical. Look at Voight in Midnight Cowboy compared to Angelina Jolie in her early 00's heyday; they could be twin brother and sister.

 FEMALE ****ING DWARVES

If Bioware didn't have gender bias, they'd be in DA2. I read that interview with Gaider about not repelling female gamers. But seriously what seperates female dwarves from male dwarves?

This is deeply rooted in the fact that many gaming companies today assume the straight male gamer defines the characters they like by these qualities:

Male characters must be badasses
Female characters must be hot

(Note that badass and hot don't have to be mutually exclusive. Ex: Morrigan Ex: Garrus)

So. Female Dwarves don't fit what most straight male gamers would consider hot. However, Male Dwarves fit the whole 'badass' thing. So despite the fact that male dwarves have as much sexual appeal as their female counterparts, the females get the shaft because straight dudes don't want to ****** to them. Sorry, its the cold hearted truth. Wanna hear it again?

They cut female dwarves because there was no point in making a female character that straight dudes couldn't ****** to.

I definitely think Bioware is trying to change this though. Notice how sexy Varric was in the trailer? That's Bioware making some changes. I think we're done with the Carth-esque male LIs for a while now. They're going to branch out because at this point I'd assume their pretty tired of writing the same **** for each straight human male LI.

Zevran is just a ****ing stereoype. Its as if they put a loud angry black woman in the game. Never did the Fenris romance so no comment on him.

This isn't a "men suck, womyn ftw" post. I'm a guy (gay, but still have a penis) and not being attracted to the woman of video gaming has really made me see how transparent it all is.

But Bioware is by far the best gaming company when it comes to this. I suggest if you haven't already done so to read this article. David Gaider makes some great points.

Heh, I have a huge nose, none of my kids got it. I also have a large, heavy build -- again, none of my kids got it. I have green eyes -- all my kids have blue eyes.

One of my kids has hair the same color as mine, but it's wavy instead of frizzy. In fact, with my kids, I almost am tempted to ask my husband, "Who is their real mom?" *grin*  They just strongly favor other relatives and not me.

But yeh, Anora has none of Loghain about her, and that's a shame because a slight family resemblance would have been cool.

I guess ppl with strong family resemblences expect most ppl to be that way.  I look so much like my mother that I've had people I've never met before recognize me from having met her.  When she wasn't even around.

Maybe Anora just looks like her mom :P
