Point of national origin is pretty much a non issue to me.  I would like the PC to be from some place I've actually seen, however, just so I have some frame of reference for what it's like.  It's hard to roleplay in a vacuum and I don't have much investment in an origin for which I have no direct connection.  Simpley being able to say "I'm Antivan" with an Antivan accent doesn't mean much to me unless I get to understand a bit more directly what Antiva is actually like.

Hopefully not.
I'd like to be pretty much anything other than Ferelden.

I'm hoping we're Antivan. I'd just play the male character and listen to his accent.

I would love to play as an Orlesian or a Nevarran not only for the sake of variety but also because thanks to the World of Thedas I am now interested in the other nations of Thedas more than ever. But part of me worries about the PC NOT being Fereldan, and that's mainly because I fear the possibility of hearing another very poorly done Marjolaine-esque fake French accent. If that kind of atrocious voice acting came out of the player character it would put me off completely.

..This may be the poor street rat in me talking. But I hope so. I would dislike being an orlesian. Their accents make them sound noble. Which in my mind = arrogant ****er.

That banter with Aveline in Mark of the assassin where hawke imitates an orlesian noble. She completely ruined it for me.

I hope for a Nevarran. Perhaps even a Pentaghast.

I hope not, if we're human again, at least being able to experience a different human culture would be better than nothing.

I totally agree with you ...and as awful as it sounds  I prefer a British or North American accent.

I really hope, that although we won't have playable "origins," we will be able to select different heritages - such as Orlesian, Antivan, Nevarran, Fereldan, Rivaini, etc. - and these are reflected in our character's voice selections (longshot), mannerisms, home, and especially reception.

I think it'd be cool if the PC in a fantasy game didn't have an English accent for once.
