[mass perfection]

 Destroy is the most popular ending on the BSN.I don't get it;I hear many "arguments" on why it's the best.


1.It's Paragon:

  I don't here this one a lot,but it still is kinda common.If the endings are Paragon/Renegade, then Destroy is Renegade without a doubt.When Garrus said something about letting a million die over there so that a billion can live over here.A Paragon Shepard said that if we do that,then we're no better than the Reapers themselves.What do we do in Destroy?Kill synthetics so organics live.Also,in ME1,we have a conversation with Anderson about Saren.Anderson said that Saren would kill thousands to prevent/stop a war.A Paragon Shepard responds to this about how that only causes wars.A Renegade Shepard said he would too.(This conversation will be very important in thisthread.)

2.This is what we were meant to do the entire series.

  This is the most common argument and one of the most stupid.Before we talk about it specifically,let's talk about important changes of heart in the series.Let's start with Tali.In ME1,she was all for destroying the Geth.In ME3,she said that after talking to Legion,she kinda wanted peace.After the peace option,she says that she even mourns Legion.Even after all the Geth have done to her.A pretty big and difficult change of heart.Shepard (if Paragon) has the same change of heart.Sort of.Another one was Mordin.In ME2,he was all for genophage.Paragon Shepard argues and argues with Mordin about how the genophage is wrong.Renegade does the opposite.But then,in ME3,he was pro-cure.Even willing to die for that idea.Now back to Destroy.At the end of ME3,Shepard is given a reason for change of heart.For one,the Reapers aren't the only ones to be destroyed and two,there are other options that require astronomically fewer deaths.

3.All the good people want the Reapers detroyed.

  Another very common and stupid argument.If they knew the truth of the options we have in the ending,I'm pretty sure they'd have a change of heart.Except people like Javik.Joker sure would.I don't think he'd want to give up his only true love when there's another option(s).Do you think a quarian that's having their child's immune system strengthened by the geth would choose Destroy?I can't truly say anyhing for most of the characters,but I'm pretty sure they'd have some change of heart.

 4.Death of synthetics isn't really much.

  I don't hear this one a lot,but it's from people who see synthetics as just pieces of metal.You're ust going to destroy them because you think your way of thinking is better?What you think synthetics are is irrelevant.A quarian having their immune system fixed might want to have a word with you.Joker obviously loves EDI.So because you just see synthetics as hunks of metal,you're just going to take them away from others who see them as more than that?You're no better than the Synthesis crowd.Synthetics aren't the only ones who die.Remember the Virtual Aliens?They're organics who uploaded themselvesto a virtual reality.You're killing the billion of them.

 5.EDI/other synthetics can be rebuilt the same exact way they are.

  That argument is so stupid that it makes Synthesis look smart.

What are the other choices? Control is stupid, so no. And Synthesis is even more ridiculous. Destroy is far from perfect, but it's still the best choice and hey, it's the only ending that lets Shep live.

I agree. Yes if people ar eahppy with destroy then they should stick with it .
I really do not get the hating of the endings. There 3 basic ones. Choose one that suits you and you are game.

Totally. Agree.

All the endings are valid and achieve the immediate goal of ending the harvest and saving the vast majority of living beings, what else matters when the stakes are that high? It's all just a matter of what price you are willing to pay.

Synthesis - Right of self determination
Control - Your mortal existance
Destroy - Synthetic pseudo-life

All are worthy sacrifices to stop the harvest and save billions. Some people put one on a pedestal to the exclusion of the others and other people prefer extinction for all so they can salve their conciousnesses over the hard decision that is required.

1. I didn't let Legion upload the code. Tali stabbed him, and I shot him 3 times. The Geth died over Rannoch. Peace was not possible. I didn't finish Tali's pilgrimage and rewrote the heretics = my bad. I was tired of fighting Geth, so the Geth died.

2. Destroy was the only option that killed the reapers.

3. Destroy was the only option that the stupid kid didn't say "You will die."

I thought there was a possibility I'd see Liara again..., but no. The Mass Relays were destroyed. The Normandy crashed. I was left under a pile of rubble. Did I do anything wrong? No. All the endings were basically identical except for the color of the explosions on your screen.

I sold the creepy geth to Cerberus, peace was not possible, so the Geths died on Rannoch. Destroy was pretty much a happy ending for me (even though my Shepard died because not enough EMS).
