ME4 should have been a reboot of the first ME.

like the new DmC, I for one love the new DmC, I had a really fun time with it, and it was really well done despite what diehard fans of the series say.Image IPB

so I imagine a reboot of the first ME and maybe ME2 with a more dynamic Shepard would be pretty fun!

take away all the silly and confusing level up RPG portion of the game and make it more of a shooter like ME3.Image IPB

Generally when someone suggests taking what should have been a pure RPG and stripping it down further to make place for even more boring, on-the-rails TPS action, I have problems taking them seriously.

so your suggesting that ME3 should have been like the first game, without the dynamic sheperd and better game mechanics at the expense of having a "fun" level up aspect of the game?

idk, I like playing the game rather than sitting there in the lvl up screen deciding what to do for 10 minutes.

What was so dynamic about Shepard in ME2 and ME3?

Level systems are about a sense of progression, that your character is becoming more powerful as the story develops. Progression is achieved through gear, too, but gear shouldn't be everything.

Then it sounds to me like RPGs simply aren't for you.

Which I can respect. But please, do not ask BioWare to twist the knife even deeper than they already have.

ME1 already stands as the best game ive ever played. bioware would severely screw it up if they tried to remake it. i have no doubts about that.

i would have a very hard time trying to decide whether or not it would be worth my time having anything to do with biowares new verson of ME1.

id rather bethesda or someone whome i have a little more faith in then bioware make it.

Trust me, I know what I'm doing. It's all going according to plan.

Bethesda needs to hire significantly better writers before I'll trust them with Mass Effect.

Fallout 3 had a great story.

Way better than New Vegas'.

Yeah, Skyrim was a real let down, though.

Oh come on! You remember that part in Fallout where the dude killed the chick and the dude was sad about it because him and the chick were really close and it's touching because the dude never told the story to anyone except the guy he was telling it to because the dude trusted the guy and that was crazy because the dude never trusted anyone but the guy is trustworthy so the dude just had to tell him about the chick.

Fallout 3's forward-moving plot is suitable enough.

Obsidian's writing in New Vegas excels in many other areas, though.

But, we've been down that path before.

The companions, maybe. Although there were plenty of rough edges with them as well, though some of those were gameplay mistakes with the story instead of writing mistakes. And they did a fairly good job with Caesar and House, although not great. I felt there were quite a few points that should have been brought up that the game didn't allow.

dynamic shepard can roll and dodge and run.. I love having my own tactics to work with and not just stand and shoot stuff, then level up by standing and shooting stuff.. idk about ME2 tho... scions were a pain.. the shockwaves didn't stop coming.. almost every time it nailed me.

anyways.. I love RPGs, I played final fantasy X, X-2, XIII and borderlands..

ME1 I only played thru once.. why? because it was boring for me.. (note that I played ME2 before ME1 so it may have ruined the experience)

Sadly, I remember this part. Because it's sad. That I remember it. Being sad.

No, If a game needs a Reboot it's ME3, followed by ME2.

Personally, I think the level-up system in ME3 is the best of the "spreadsheet RPG mechanics of the series.

ME1's was far too granular. Take throw for example., the difference between rank 1 and rank 2 was only 50 Newtons and thus as a player, there isn't enough feedback in the game itself for you to think that it was worth spending 1 point in the talent.

ME2's was too limited...while there's a large "feel" that a player will notice between rank 1 and rank 2 in throw, the fact that the only difference in many builds is the last evolution made many Shepards look and play the same. This admittedly though is why ME2 is considered the best "balanced" of the 3 games.  Little variation in the player's output meant it was much easier to tune the game to a proper difficulty.

As for the weapons, I'm sorry but ME 3 easily has much better customization/modding than either ME1 or ME2. Indeed, one of the big problems with ME1 was how useless all the lott became once you got spectre guns. Just as importantly, the weapons in the same class looked and felt the same. Claymore X is a different weapon in terms of look and feel than Disciple X which are all different than Scimitar X etc...

Let me guess, because Fallout 3 had more opportunities for heroism?

On topic: ME1 and ME3 don't even have that drastically different level-up systems. You put points into your powers to make them stronger; that's about it.
