You´re really making a molehill out of two lines of dialogue. By that reasoning then Merril should also hook up with Carver, and Nathaniel with Velanna, and... you get the point. Just because Bethany had a crush on him for being prince, doesn´t mean they´re going to hook up. Sebastian is not the type to break chantry´s laws, no matter if he is a prince or priest.

Carver can't romance Merrill. He had an unfortunate encounter with an ogre. It was very sad. I was too slow to save him.

You're... saying that Merrill and Carver and Nathaniel and Velanna don't have a thing? How about Ariane and Finn? Fenris and Isabela?

Thos ships are canon! (Assuming Hawke doesn't romance Merrill).

She can be Gray Warden, she can be mage from circle, she can be dead and there can be warden/templar Carver. To many alternatives and different voice acting and story lines.

I'd prefer if Isabela went with Merrill instead (considering the way she talks to Merrill).... It's ridiculous how many (all of them in fact) non romanced companions go with the opposite gender, despite bioware's support on same sex relationships.
How about some variety here Bioware? Like a nonromanced companion going with the same gender?

You really see the lack of same sex relationships in the tiny amount of inter companion romances to be Bioware not supporting same sex relationships?

Isabella and Fenris don't even really have a "romance", it's appears to be a mostly a physical relationship. I don't see that as something that Merrill would go for, or that Isabella would want for Merrill with her given how protective she is of her. The other "romances" don't even go that far.

Pretty much all the companions who are nonromanced, go with the opposite gender or just flirt with and I find that ridiculous.

A variety would have been great. And I didn't say that bioware doesn't support same sex, but to see this happening with companions is annoying.

But there's hardly any of it at all really. It's such a minor part of the games It just seemed odd to look for equal representation in something so tiny. None of the flirting is even that serious.

Bethany and Sebastian are just so boring to me. Bethany more so, but their were only a few moments when Sebastian wasn't boring me to death. I would rather they both be shelved entirely.

Bethany was sweet..but it sucked that you could not get her if you played a mage.i find melee classes to be utterly boring.

Merrill and Carver? That's... certainly one way to look at the possibility of Carver and Merrill. Another interpretation could be found in another thread, perhaps Silfren's recent sexuality thread:

Oh hell nah. Bethany was the only character I liked in DA2 and I'd rather see her as an LI for the next protagonist. Sebastian was the worst companion out of all.

Bethany was dull and Sebastian was a companion locked behind a paywall. I doubt we will see them again.

While I agree that Merrill has no attraction for Carver, I don't understand the tone of the post. It's too....protective, expecially considering that the pair would happen in playthroughs week Merrill wasn't romanced (so you and Xil shoudn't worry about) and Carver isn't a bad person. I'd understand of the pair was Merrill with Anders or Fenris, but Carver isn't either as fanatic/extremist as the formers, and he never mistreat Merrill. 
The same goes for Bethany and Sebastian. 
I understand caring for characters, but some reactions seem excessive.

How would this ever work? Beth is either dead, a gray warden, or a circle mage/apostate. The first one doesn't need explaining. As a GW isn't like the mob where once you are in you are in for life and you have to leave everything else behind? And the last one considering the state we last see Kirkwell it doesn't seem to be a wise move to marry an apostate who had a hand in starting this huge mage vs templar war. Sebastian's rein would be over before it even began. All that aside from a personal standpoint I do not support this union, Beth can do better.
