ME2, despite being hailed as one of the best games of the decade, was universally hated on the BSN when it came out because it wasn't ME1. Unless DAI is exactly the same as Origins(it won't be), people will complain. It isn't a question of "If," it's a question of "For how long?"

Anyway, if DAI is better than DAO I'll eat my hat. So if you're up for the challenge, Bioware, I'll fire up the grill and prepare a batch of barbeque sauce.
I liked ME2*/ME3/DA2 despite the flaws, but it seems like Bioware's priorities have shifted. I know the forums naturally skew that way anyway, but I think that the gameplay and writing have to be an absolute priority and nailed down this time. Not taking away creative options, no plotholes the size of Texas, no forcing our characters to hold the idiot ball, and not screwing over existing (or new!) characters in order to appeal to romances.
Just a good, solid game.
* I hate batching ME2 in with those, but it took away a lot of player agency and in the end turned out to be nothing but a sidestory. It's solid and the gameplay is arguably better than ME1, but..yeah.

I remember ending the game for the first time and visiting the BSN to talk about how awesome it was, but then I saw threads talking about how ME2 aims to CoD/Casual fanbase because now you have to reload your weapon.
Never understood why some said that...

Don't say that, the last one who made a similar bet on this site ended up losing really hard...
"Platinum farming is not possible, if they do that, I'll eat my hat"
- ME3 dev talking about "Earth" dlc.

Ha ha, we'll see. DAO's only under BG1 and BG2 as far as Bioware game quality goes. That's a pretty high bar to reach for.

It would take A LOT to be better than DAO though. DAO had the feel of a PC game on console for me- it might need to capture that again for myself to feel the game was a worthy spiritual successor to DAO.

I don't see how it could be IMO without race options and origins.
Human was the most used race by far on Origins (Roughly an 80% of players).

I don't think that's why Bioware opted to remove them.El_Chala_Legalizado wrote...

My body isn't ready for that tbh. But I have enough time to prepare for it just in case it is better.

Well, I think this could be one of the situations with DA2:Plaintiff wrote...

Dev 1: - We don't have enough time... Is there anything we can cut without being missed by the players?
Dev 2: - How about races? Almost everyone play as human.
Dev 1: - You're right! We'll remove the race options.
Still, I think they should bring back origin options.

As far as the BSN goes, it won't matter. There will still be those who will have nothing but negative things to say about the game, they will whine for no other reason but to whine, and they will be loud.

One problem with implementing different races that's often overlooked on these boards is that while they are using a voiced protagonist, they are limited by the varying accents of the different races and nationalities. In Origins, The human and dwarven Warden would have had English accents, while the elves would have required an American one. Even if they found a voice actor able to pull off both accents respectably, they would have had to record every line the Warden said multiple times per gender. That could get very expensive, and funds allocated to this additional voice acting would have to be taken from other parts of the game. Meaning cut content.
Seeing as how they've shifted the Dalish elves to having Welsh accents, this problem is even deeper. It also means that the "origins" in Dragon Age Inquisition will likely all come from the same ethnic group. If one background is Orlesian, so must they all be. Of course, removing voice acting for the main character would solve this problem, and that is why Origins was able to pull it off, but Bioware seems firm in their stance that a voiced protagonist is superior to a silent one. That I happen to agree with this stance is immaterial.
Of course, The Old Republic managed to get all of the lines recorded by 16 different voice actors, but we all know how astronomically expensive that must have been, and how much it hurt Bioware when the game didn't do as well as was hoped.

Exactly! But at what point do you realize that it is just people hating for the sake of hating vs. genuine people with realistic issues with the game at hand?
