I don't see how it could be IMO without race options and origins. :(

Race options was our own fault:
Human was the most used race by far on Origins (Roughly an 80% of players).

I never really understood that statistic. It's not like 80% played human ONLY. I played a HN of each gender to see all origins, endings, and what would be different but I played at least 25 elves and dwarves yet I am counted in that 80%? :(

I think they meant saves, I mean: That's the only way you can have a precise number.
Unless that the 80% were players that have played more as humans than anything else, like me:
I only have one Elf character, never touched Dwarf and a all my other saves are human.

I never understood the statistic either. Personally I have been human no more than 50%, and some of those were simply so I could marry Alistair at the end. Does that make me shallow? City elf female and casteless dwarf female are among my favorites.

this. the lack of playable backgrounds and races is already a step back from Origins. if those two elements where back, than there is a small chance for the game to be better. but the icos for demented and retarded are a let down too.

I compeletly disagree with this opinion, which exaggerates the importances of "origins". There is nothing intrinsically sacred or necessary about playable backgrounds and different races. I too think they're good and would prefer them to be back, but DAI could very well still have a wide variety of indepth background choices that meaningfully impact each person's gameplay experience.

If it is better, then we'll have an excellent game that I'll treasure absolutely. However, it's guaranteed that there will be a few people who will hate it for whatever reason, no matter what quality of game we get.

Dragon Age Origins was a good game because it surprised everyone. The world and the lore were made for DA:O.
Inquisition won't be as surprising; you know a lot about Thedas, you know every character we've seen in the trailer so far (except the angry Kossith)... I think DA:I can be better than DA:O by adding some gameplay changes. Frostbite 3 is made for that, I really hope we'll see some nice things, story and lore apart.

What I fear most after the trailer is fanservice. I don't know if this trailer could have been promising, interesting or exciting for someone who doesn't know Dragon Age. So squeeee Dragons, squeeee Wardens, squeeeee Varric, squeeee Morrigan, etc.
I am worried they're afraid of making something different now (I liked the idea behind a "political" plot between mages and templars in DA2, I liked the fact they tried to make a different ending for ME3 - but they did it badly for both games.
I need to feel DA:I is a new & unique game. I don't want cameos of past characters every 5 secs, I don't want to gather armies to kill an ancient evil, I don't want private jokes (calibrations) every time. I want something fresh, not something uninspired and "comforting".

Yup. I think sequels are much harder to do with respect to pleasing fans. I think fans  come into sequels with differing hopes and expectations and some (many?) may feel  disappointed.
personally I enjoyed all three ME's and both DA's   - Origins much more so than DA2 -. so I cant imagine I wont enjoy this next game,

Lack of Origins is a step back from the first game. They could make up the difference in some other way.

I'm expecting Fable 3 in the Dragon Age universe so that would certainly be a pleasant surprise.

To be honest games and the games industry have changed a lot since Origins so I think it'll be difficult to compare them. If DA3 is reasonably good I will buy it as the past few years have not exactly been saturated by reasonably good rpgs.

I hope it can surpass Origins in terms of creativity and entertainment, While I did enjoy DA2, sadly it didn't meet on the same level on Origins. Here's hoping Inquisition does well.

Well...

Best of DAO + Best of DA2 = Best of Both = Better than DAO and Better than DA2.

So... it will be an evidence and we can say "they do what they say they will do." (?!)

I fully expect it to be better... If next gen technology can't make the game better then Bioware should be very disaappointed. I really have high expectations because it's a next gen game. There better be tons of content and it be much more polished technically and graphically.

Things like that are where "better" gets tricky. I for one don't care about graphics or technological advances such as motion sensors or crazier mechanics. What I want is a great story and characters, interesting lore and locations, lots of role playing options,etc...DA2 had better graphics and better cinematics but by my standards of "good" it was far worse than its' predecessor.

This. If DA: Inquisition shames DAO... it will be one hell of a game.

Dragon Age Origins is an amazing game. If Dragon Age Inquisition is better than that, I would be extremely happy. However the haters are always going to hate. No matter how hard Bioware tries, the people who hate EA will reject its quality because it was published by the "Most Evil Company in America."

I'd say, don't push your luck. We all know that people will always have a soft spot for the original games in every franchises. If it's better, than cool. If it isn't, then people will complain for years that the third game isn't like DAO enough. <_<
