I fully expect DA:I to be 'better' than DA:O. Don't get me wrong, Origins was a great, long, deep and immersive RPG, but there were several things that needed to be improved in a sequel (in my own opinion that is), like combat, voiced protagonist and (now today) outdated graphics. I guess if race selection and a silent protagonist is super important to you then you'll never get over it no matter how good the game in itself is.
I'm looking forward to DA:I. Nuff said.
Exactly what was improved?
In DA2 the combat was HORRIBLE, the graphics were meh (frankly I consider DA:O to be the better looking game) and the voiced protagonists is hardly a pure positive, as it comes with a downside that many consider huge.
DA2 combat was miles better than Origins. Auto attacks actually hit (and no you didnt have to button mash after they patched in auto attack), animations were shorter, specializations were actually more than just a couple of talents and actually made your character....specialized, speed and responsiveness was improved to the point where I no longer fell asleep during battles, you had to keep in mind enemy immunities, you actually had to pay attention to what was happening on the battlefield and move your party if necessary, etc. I could go on for days.
As for graphics you must be playing on a standard def TV to even say that. A voice is always better than a mute.

DAO at least had a semblance of reality ....

Old school rpg fans who liked Baldurs Gate, DAO, and a some of the kickstarter rpgs won't like it, I predict because it will remind them of DA2.
DA2 fans will like it. Bioware hopes Bethesda fans will like it and buy it and that will make it a success.

Yes, because I turn to fantasy RPG games for reality. Combat was maaaaybe too quick in DA2, but I think that's really only in comparision to the first game. Combat was kind of lackluster in DA:O, even if it was a great game overall.

If it improves on both, then I'll be pleased and replay it several times with a different approach each time.

It would take a miracle in my opinion, however I enjoy being proved wrong. I have every faith in BioWare to make a great DA game, but better than DAO?
If they manage to pull it off, I'll change my avatar.

There are so many stupid things about DA:I that have already been officially annouced that make it nigh impossible for it to get anywhere near DA:O...
and this.
Honestly, most of the people who made Bioware great no longer work at the company, so my expectations aren't that high.

Dragon Age is meant to be a dark fantasy with some realism to it, not your crappy jrpgs. Get over it.

The problem is that DAO's combat is godawfully clunky. NWN's faster and more responsive, and even though it's been ages since I've touched BG1/2 those probably are, too.
I get that some people didn't like DA2's jump in combat - and I thought it was a step in the right direction, just taken to too much of an extreme. Still, it needs to be more than "shuffle shuffle whack".
