I think many of here does not really understand what overrated means. It means that the subject is praised, valued much more that its actual value, worth, usefulness.

The lolReegar cannot be overrated as it is an OP weapon. Saying Harrier is overrated is wrong because it IS an excellent weapon, borderline OP, and no the ammo issue is NOT an issue at all in practice.

Claymore is overrated, not because it is not a very good weapon, but Wraith is cleary better overall, but many fanatically puts Claymore to the top. Although I have no problem with it

All in all, if using the exact meaning of overrated then my answer is that the most overrated weapon is the Lancer. It is not as good as ppl try to present, at all. It is not bad, but Harrier, PPR, Typhoon, Saber, even GPR in special case (GE) is better choice (considering Gold difficulty). Lancer's dmg is good but not excellent, its accuracy is medium, the virtually infinite ammo is its niche. Also, Lancer has its rarity, uniqueness feeling. I am pretty sure many who has uses it to show off he/she has it even if he/she would have a better option, and of course says it is the "best" AR in the game.

So, IMHO the most overrated weapon is the Lancer. (Inbefore, I have it so I knwo the gun well.)

My answer would be Saber.

The hard-on BSN has for this gun is really ridiculous. Its DPS is on the level of the Raptor or Eagle. For a gun with that weight and slow reload, that's just sad.

I think the claymore isn't loved so much for sheer effectiveness, it's loved because it's an awesome gun, and it's one of the few that actually feels like a real shotgun.

The sound, the single shot clip... arguing which gun is better for DPS, or utility is one thing, but the claymore is loved because it's a really fun weapon for a lot of people.

I love the Reegar, but I use it with a KroSent, especially on Gold, and it rocks with AP ammo/mods. You can hose everything in range through cover, and it utterly murders spawns.

I'm just tired of people saying how good that paperweight is when there are at least 3 shottys that are better. Pirahna, lolreegar and wraith. And for half the weight at that.

Crutchmore?! What? Why do people say this? This gun requires skill to use properly. Way, way more then the average pug (I sure can't make it sing like some here either). So calling Crutchmore makes no sense at all.

It's extremely good on the geth infiltrator. You can easily dominate platinum using this gun the right way.

Yes, there are a ton of Talon GI out there. Almost like all GI's use Talon. And why not, HM is supposed to help with it's main problem, accuracy, no?

Anyway, discussing in a cool way, I seriously think that the piranha is way overrated. It would be a nice gun if it had a decent accuracy, but as it is it's only ok on an accuracy boosting class * . On those classes it rocks, yeah. On other classes it's meh at best. And sorry, but the fact that you get a silver headshot medal in a match doesn't mean much, does it? 

About the claymore being overrated. Read what Anno wrote, he's right. I'm perfectly conscious that whenever I use a claymore (with very few exceptions), there is a gun (a shotgun, usually) that will do the job better. Which is usually the Raider or the Wraith (not even talking about the Reegar', it's just an abomination, I pretend it doesn't exist). But I don't care. Why? Cause it's a claymore. It feels good. And it still performs very closely to the best gun available, on most of the kits I can think of putting it on.

My take 

Edit: * or on any class capable of getting close fast, i.e vanguards. But on those classes a Raider works way better.

Fair enough, though a silver headshot medal on a weapon that you yourself says has no accuracy kinda disproves your no accuracy theory.  Also You should ALWAYS use a weapon you A) are comfortable with and feels good. Hell I'd use the executioner If all it did was make that meaty sound. SOOOO much goodness. To be fair I use my pirahna on up close and personal classes like my Kroguard(who needs a reegar?),AIU, and vorcha. you know the "up in your face" classes. Also a smartchoke helps. I like it due to multishot and it helps survivability with a lower cool down on BC. Claymore is not a bad gun I'm just tired of the hero worship it gets, hence the overrated.

Gotta agree with claymore as most over worshipped. Great gun, yes, but definitely some over hype there. I'll also agree with Lancer - love the gun personally, but anyone expecting am infinite ammo harrier type of experience will be sorely disappointed.

Lancer. I have tried it on a couple of power based classes and switched to different weapons (Saber, Talon) after being disappointed. It is light, but the damage is lacking. It seems like a somewhat better version of pheaston with no ammo to me.

Interesting that a lot of people are saying the lancer.

I too, am in the overrated Lancer camp. I just don't think it's all that good, though I did have fun using it on the Geth Engineer.

It truly would merit the amount of love it gets if the ammo recharged instantly. As it stands, the delay really does cost it, unless you have very low cooldown powers so can spam 2 of them quickly to keep your damage up during your ammo recharge downtime.

I feel like most of the guns that are highly rated deserve it. Maybe the Indra - it always seems to get positive reviews even though its' damage isn't all that great. What really kills it for me is that there's no magazine upgrade available for it because it's a sniper.
