I have all of the DLCs installed, and I can equip 1 weapon of each type on my Soldier(1 AR/SR/SMG/SG/HP).

Did they change something in a patch to modify this behavior for Shepard only, so it is like ME2?

I am really confused if this would get me banned somehow.

Shepard, of any class, has always been able to equip 5 weapons. You just have to deal with the maximum cooldown penalty. Some people enjoy running Soldiers and Sentinels carrying a maxed out weapons load.

Multiplayer characters are limited to carrying only 2 weapons.
