I agree, though I do understand there have been constraints in the past I do hope Inquisition has different body types for different classes (muscular warriors, lean rogues and thin mages).

I love this idea and would really like to see it in the game. However it would most likely mess with a lot of cutscenes which would be a shame. Maybe it could work if the body type variations would be very slight. Then there's also the amount of extra work going into making armor for all body types. Still I would love it if it was possible! Would the body type be something that we picket out in a similar manner as we did Hawke's class and gender in DA2 or could it actually be one or several sliders? Like weight, height and muscle mass?

 Fat Inquisitor for DAI!

Always wanted a fat Shepard for Mass Effect. Time to get with the program Bioware. Give us body size customization.

I think this is a rather cute rendering of how women exist in more than one shape and colour:Posted Image
Obviously, the same goes for men, but that seems like a more established fact.

That would cause some very serious difficulties for animations.

MMOs and games like Skyrim can get away with it by having far lower quality animations than any modern BioWare game, or simply not attempting intricate animations at all.

Great picture! Not to mention a great point.

The only game I can think of that you might actually be able to make a character similar to these ladies is Dragon's Dogma. That CC combined with the level of storytelling from the Dragon Age games would be amazing!

Body sliders.
I would love to make different characters with significantly different body types.

What they should do is remove the restriction of body type to certain races.
Example: human men are muscular in DA2 , while elves were slender, and dwarves were stout and barrell chested. They should just tweak the elven and dwarf bodies by making them taller to give us 3 body type options for the protag.
Muscular like a standard human, slender like an elf, or stout like a dwarf.

This sounds like a good idea. The bodytypes would be similar in height so that wouldn't mess with the cutscenes too bad. How much does weight/ muscle mass affect cutscenes? Mostly ones that include the pc touching or interacting closely with other characters I would guess. I wouldn't mind having clipping (like with modded long hair and heavy armor in DAO) if it ment getting options for body types.

The only problem with a more stout body would be what you mentioned- possible clipping when, for example, the character folds their arms across their chest. A character with bigger arms and a broader chest might have his arms sink into his chest.
However, dwarves made animations like this and I never noticed problems with clipping. I'm not an expert on such things, but I don't think adjusting the height of a dwarf body would be such a problem.

I would love to see a body type slider like in Saints Row 3. Although really it was more of a triangle than a slider. It allowed you to pick any body type between any of the three points (muscular, skinny, fat).

However, it would probably be difficult to implement in a game like Dragon Age, which is a pity.

^ This, 100%. Your class should affect your body type. Lean, lithe rogues that look like they could actually creep past you without you hearing their footsteps because they don't weigh 200 pounds + with all that muscle. Thin mages without much tone to their bodies as, frankly, they don't need it and particularly circle mages wouldn't have the time or equipment to work out (whoever it was that commented on the absence of a gym in the circle, I'm with you). Muscular, heavily-built warriors with the strength to swing around an axe twice his size.
That way, even if players wanted a different body type for their character, they could always implement it with the toolset since Bioware are almost definately going to release one for DA3 after all the hoohah and uproar over not having one for DA2.
Alternatively, we could just have 3 body types for all to choose from.
Where animations are concerned, it might not be an issue if we have 3 body types to choose from instead of a slider, e.g. skinny, muscular and overweight. Couldn't the animations between characters be tailored to fit the particular body types of the NPC and the PC? For example, you could have a muscly NPC romance option that interacts closely with the PC, like hugging or whatever. Depending on the PC's body type, the corresponding animation would trigger. I agree that with a slider this would be very difficult to work around. But 3 body types isn't much to ask for. Please, Bioware? :crying:

I'd probably just go with the default body for both genders anyway, but it wouldn't hurt to have this feature.

I remember there was a chubby character model in DA:O...

A tal-Vashoth, a giant who ignored the Qun would probably be fat and less chiseled, right?

That actually kind of resemble Dragon's Dogma body type selection screen. I don't think it may be too difficult to implement something vaguely like that in DA:I character creation section.

That aside, I agree. I like playing under-dog characters that are short/weak looking but end up defeating everything in their path and not have a character that looks like they've been in the gym every day for the past 10 years. I'd like more choices, if possible, of course.

Not saying there shouldn't be a slider though.
