Games like Skyrim, TERA, Dragon's Dogma, and Dark Souls, armor and clothing is literally being worn over the character's model. Outfits in DA:O and DA2 replace the entire body IIRC, so you can hardly say the player characters even had specific body types, outside of periods where they're just in their undies.

Words cannot describe my disappointment when I first shifted the weight slider in Skyrim all the way to the right only to find myself looking like a greek god rather than the fat, slovenly piece of **** that I wanted to be.

They don't need sliders and all that jazz. Just do what TOR did and have three or four different body types. Boom. Done.

Bioware could you please make the boobs bigger on the female player characters?

As a woman with big boobs, I agree. People keep harping that "not every woman is a DD!" That's true, some of us are not so flat.

I'd love to be able to choose different body types. I think Guild Wars 2 does this in a good way, you get different body shapes and can also choose the height of your character.

Character creation is something I can spend a loooong time on... :P

Yes, me too.  And this would increase the fun, at least for me.

Sad but true.  I've been known to spend time making my character and then when I see them in game, starting over.  Didn't have this problem quite as much in the dragon age games as I did in ME.  And I really enjoyed the shop where I could change face, hair and whatever else I wanted to do in DA2.

I wouldn't mind this, kinda like Dragon's Dogma where you can alter height, weight, muscle structure and so on. I loved that. You could also wear any armour, no matter your height, so it's not that hard to get armour models for each form, which I see some people trying to excuse.

Also, I want to be able to play as a muscular female, the latest Bioware heroines (Hawke and Femshep) have flimsy body types that make it very unlikely they can prance about in full-armour and use massive weapons. I want a lady who actually looks like she can beat your ass.

IIRC part of the reason for restricting the player to two body types (male and female, human) was so they wouldn't have to design the same basic armour set ten different ways. Also to make cinematics easier to produce, as the PC is a set height/girth/etc.

If those costs are no longer a factor, 'd rather they bring back playable races than introduce new body types. Or both, because more is better, right?

To add to my original point about overly beefy humans: It shouldn't, but Bioware's depiction of elves irritates me. I've always thought of elves as tall, lithe, elegant creatures like those in Lord of the Rings. Not short, tiny-framed things that look like they might snap when the wind blows them. That's why I'd like a bit more meat on them, but DA's lore would never bend to this idea. I suppose it's a way of keeping the races all individual as elves might seem too much like humans otherwise. Although, the concept art of the elves for DA all seems to depict them as having the same kind of body type as humans. Elf LIs would certainly benefit from a little bit of extra height. I know one of my main reasons for steering clear of Fenris in the majority of my playthroughs was due to the fact that my Hawkes always towered above him, and for females that can make one seem a little manlier in comparison.

It's not like a female Warden, Lady Hawke or FemShep have realistic bodies right now. Like I said, spending a life adventuring and fighting every day does not turn you into a slender top model.

And to be honest, there are people already craving for impossibly ludicrous Barbie-looking anime-style bodies, so they may as well add some weird or atypical bodies to the mix.

Eh?  It's been a while since I played a DA game, but I don't remember the female bodies looking like 'slender top models.'

Still being slender makes more sense than being obese.

Check this video out (sorry about the music...).  She's probably stronger than most guys posting in this thread and has a very feminine figure.

I wouldn't mind a thicker power lifter type build (a bit of fat over a lot of muscle) but the whales in that picture don't fit a hero at all.

I suggest you watch this.

Obviously, weightlifters who are heavy is not an obscure concept.

I would love to see more body diversity in DA, even just a little. Or at least some equality between the sexes, so we avoid the 'huge muscular man'/'tiny skinny woman' situation. It's not a dealbreaker for me, but it would be nice to see.

Why?

You just said you don't see yourself making a PC like that, and I'd imagine most people playing a female PC wouldn't ( I mean if you want to look like a man, why not just roll a man?).

So why should Bioware waste their art resources developing a "butch toggle" only a handful of people would even use?  This is getting kind of ridiculous.

Weightlifting is purely anerobic, fighting isn't.  That woman is 5'8" and 350lbs... in an actual fight she'd gas out in under 60 seconds with that physique.  And good luck hiking all over the place on foot ala DAO/DA2.

IMO the protagonist absolutely needs to be in good shape to keep things believable.

Well, I'd definitely make a female character who wasn't 'feminine' if I had the option.

"Most people" don't play through the gay romances in the game, but they're still there. Just because the majority of players wouldn't be interested doesn't mean it's a total loss. I'm willing to bet that there are several people out there who would like customization options like the ones discussed in this thread.

Body sliders would be very appreciated. I'm sick of my guys being overly buff. I want a slender male PC.

First off, let me make one thing clear: when I said I probably won't make a female PC that isn't 'feminine', I didn't mean all my characters of that gender will look like, say, DA:O's female PCs (whose body look ridiculously weak if you ask me). A woman can retain what I believe to be a feminine appearance whilst being perfectly fit and physically strong, as it has been shown in previous pages of this thread, and that's what I'd be looking for when creating my MCs.

That being said, onto your question - I don't think the 'minority' should be ignored. 'Tis really as simple as that. I obviously don't have the necessary information to tell BioWare not ignoring them will give the company a profit so I'm not saying that. I just think it'd be very 'nice' on their part to cater to a small group of people who like their games and want their character to be different this time around.

I just hope the female PC body is fit. Hawke was better then female warden but after the crap they pulled with femshep, I'm doubtful. I really hope it's not the classic big muscle male and skinny twig woman(JE, DA2 and TOR are the only exceptions to this)

According to David Gaider at least 1/4 of the players did play through a gay romance.  As for people who would use the manish-woman option... well there's you, and...? :?

BSN is not popular enough to represent Dragon Age's playerbase. Try to keep that in mind.

What, are you expecting me to do a survey?

I think you're taking this a little far by calling it a "manish-woman" option. (And frankly, I think that's a little insulting to actual women who don't conform to conventional feminine ideals) All I'm asking for are more customization options, like a body slider or something similar. Having a little more muscle or a bit more fat doesn't make a woman "manly".

It's up to Bioware whether they'd want to do this, considering the resources they have versus the demand for these options, but at least I can add my voice to the demand. That's all.

I would be happy with just a couple or a few body types to choose from instead of being locked into fashion model Hawke's perfect body.

Being able to play as Puddi Inquisitor would be nice.

Damn, ease on the self-righteousness will you?

"Manish-woman"? Shockingly some people want to play as a female who actually looks like she does hard physical work, not being slender to the point of silly. The fact you think that would make a 'manish-woman' says a bit.

^Umm... what?

I listed several examples of athletic women who are still very feminine way back on page 3 IIRC. Nowhere did I say being athletic and feminine are at odds.

LadyM was the one asking for a non-feminine female option.

...you just bluntly said a woman who isn't feminine is a 'mannish-woman'. Nice. Then that little "Oh it's just your opinion and just yours so invalid" insinuation at the end.
