it seems like most people who had a female Warden canon had a female Hawke canon, and a male Warden canon a male Hawke canon, but does anyone else mix it up? i really don't have a preference when it comes to my PC's gender, my Warden was female, my Orlesian Warden was male, my Hawke was male, my Inquisitor will probably be female, or whatever. Most other games are rather varied for me too, cause i really don't mind playing either.

I don't have a go-to gender for characters either. My canon warden is male and my canon Hawke is female. Usually I snoop around the cc for a while and see what catches my attention and take it from there. I prefer to play as a male character in the ME games because I found it easier to make male characters I liked. But I also replay games several times so I always end up playing as both genders eventually.

Nah, I'm like that too. I don't generally try to RP myself in these kinds of games, rather I just create a character then RP them, so instead of asking myself what I would do or say in this situation I ask what they would do or say in this situation. So gender really doesn't matter for me. Warden was female, Hawke was male, Inquisitor shall be...I dunno.
And I really don't have the issue where I can't get immersed in a character of the opposite gender of me, anyway. I haven't quite reached the level of roleplaying where my immersion is ruined if I don't know what it feels like to have a vagina while my character does...

Always play as a bro. Wouldn't be caught dead playing as a chick, hell if someone saw me playing as one I'd have to burn my xbox, change my name and move to mexico.

Male because women belong in the kitchen making sammichs or in the tavern serving ale while men save the world..........jk jk jk
I play male because I am a male and I like immersing myself into the role. Kinda hard to do that when I have boobs.

As I like to roleplay myself, I usually prefer to play male characters for that little extra identity match, but I also care a lot about character aesthetics and few games let me create a male character that fits my taste, and when I can't make a male character that I like I roleplay a female instead, since creating an attractive female is a lot easier in most games.
DA:O did let me create a male character to my taste, DA2 did not, so DA:O - male, DA2 - female.

I don't have a fixed preference, it really just depends on which gender and/or which gender voice actor I warm to the most in each game. For example, my canon Warden is female, but my canon Hawke is male.

My Warden was always a mix of genders and races, but my DA2 Hawkes have all been female.
Kind of the same with my old KOTOR profiles. Revan was a mix, while the Exile was always female.

My first play-through tends to always be female, but afterward I switch up both gender and class on purpose. In fact, except for that first "canon" game, I don't have any repeats; if the Warden was male, Hawke was female, etc.

RPG, Shooter, Action/Adventure, Flight Sim, Strategy games. I always play as female when you have a choice to be a female, but I play Sheploo in ME series, because his image is too well established, feel wrong not to use him.

I usually play female characters. I have been known to play as a male one on occasion, though.

I generally play male characters because I am male. It's a connection thing, being easier to connect to the PC if we're the same gender. I did a femShep run, and I just couldn't connect to her in the same way I did my maleSheps.
Dragon Age as a series has been an odd beast. In the past, I've tried to go through a male and a female run, just to be able to see what I'm missing, but in Origins, I couldn't get through it past the point of getting the 'romance Alistair' achievement. I just wasn't as interested in finishing her playthrough. I don't know why - I've been able to do femRevan runs in the past, so I would think that the non-voiced nature of the protagonist's dialogue would have helped, yet it didn't. And I am not really a fan of Jo Wyatt's performance, and abandoned the attempt at a femHawke run about a quarter through Act I.
So yeah, with only a few exceptions, I play as a male character.

I tend to mix it up, though when voice-actors are involved I tend to decide based on those. Occasionally, I have a look at the romances.
Generally, I suppose I lean towards females, simply because it feels like there's more dialogue where someone goes "hey, you're female".

Play as females all of the time in both DA games. Played 1 male in each one and that was it.

I'm female, so my "main" playthroughs have been with a female Amell Warden & female mage Hawke. Inquisitor shall be the same.
I was actually replaying DA:O with a male Cousland recently with the intent of giving male Hawke a go afterwards as a rogue.
To answer the question; no, I don't tend to mix it up.

I never play RPGs as myself. Instead the PC is the protagonist in a story I'm telling - often I sympathize with him/her, but sometimes I don't. So I go with whichever character who has better voice acting.
In Origins my canon Warden is male because I want him to do the Dark Ritual.

I switch it up a lot.
Still not sure if I'll play male or female first in Inquisition, probably depend on voice actor and the new character creator.

First, female. (Because I'm a woman and I really feel more close to the PC playing as a woman). I choose fem Warden, then in others profiles I switch to male to see how different the gameplay is. The same with the Champion. Female Hawke, then, male Hawke.
Probably I will do the same when DA3 get to my hand. It will depend on how handsome the PC male i'm able to create (? LOL xD) and the voice actor.
