Well, I guess I wouldn't do that either ('guess' because I never came across a situation like this. But I know that when I feel anxious about something around the house the first things I want to make sure are safe are my pets/close family), but I got what she said. I don't really... hate her, but well, I would prefer not hanging around people like her, just that, hah!

Ok, you're more fond of animals than Ash. But wouldn't you agree that there is a different quality? If the scenario was slightly different, and you had to choose between saving an animal and another human, would you really make no difference? I think there is a difference, the question is just how big you feel it is.

Whether life is equal or not, people will always look out for your own. In an emergency, you'll try to save as many people as you can but your main priorities are your family and friends. The alien races could possibly throw them under the Reaper bus to save themselves and their own race.

She doesn't think it's wise to have people from foreign powers on board the most modern ship of the fleet. Given the situation, she's wrong, but it's a reasonable concern. Would be the same if there where non-alliance humans around.
