So I was reading this article and it brought up hidden plot allusions in the Mass Effect Series

-the various insane characters can easily have their ramblings attributed
to, well, being crazy, but the majority of the time they’re saying
something of relevance

-Then there’s the Codex, which notes that Turians without facepaint
cannot be trusted, and low and behold, in both of the first two games,
you’re stitched up by Turians without facepaint.

-Upon first visiting the Citadel, Ashley notes that the stairs heading up
to the Council Chamber would be great for holding a defensive line, and
of course, at the end of the game, that is exactly what you have to do.

What other ones do you guys remember

Manuel, the first actual npc you encounter .....predicts everything to come.

The crazy guy down in the tunnels on Feros, he is rambling about the Thorian.

One of the planets is owned by a billionaire volus who had visions of dark creatures attacking and bringing doom. To prepare he hired an army of mercs and they still there when you get close to the planet with the leviathan.

yep, there's a lot in Mass Effect. But after reading that article the lasting impression I got was- How so. SO underated Spec Ops the Line is, I think I'll go replay it again. Maybe on fubar difficulty. Cause I like pain.

Garrus says he's noticed that the keepers stay away from it.

You must be thinking of the Geth Chronicles AU DLC

It's implied, by his speech, that he used the beacon and broke.

Yeah, Manuel is right. That guy should have been Shepard's aide! =)

Yep, maybe not on purpose but he definitely got too close to it! I don't think I figured that one out until several playthroughs in.

Warden Kuril (sp?) in Purgatory, the guy who thinks trying to capture Shepard is a good idea.

The AI tapped into the gambling machines on the citadel; "All organics must destroy or control synthetic life forms".

Yup.

The existence of Reapers is far beyond our minds, as said so by Sovereign itself. Alas, the existence of the Catalyst is truly what lays beyond our understanding.

Corporal Jenkins: Whenever someone says a mission is going to be a dull affair and that they're looking forward to the real action, they jynx the operation. In ME 2, you have the young boy in Omega who also wants to join the hunt for Archangel for the thrill and may get killed if you don't stop him. His face model even looks like a young version of Jenkins'.

Scanning the keepers is also a mission that 'seems' silly at first (click and get paid, rinse and repeat), but there were some squadmates who didn't trust the keepers completely and the salarian scientist is really suspicious of their activities. The keepers end up being a really important tool used by the Reapers every time they started the 'harvest' of a cycle.

Also, when Ash says that when any species finds itself against the wall in a crisis, they'd care about their own first, and even defines it as a "very human" reaction. That is exactly what happens in ME 3 (using the example of sacrificing your dog to escape from a bear, which Chris L'Étoile revealed it was a literary reference).
