I always have Varric in my part since he's the one tellilng the story and he has knowledge of what happened, so I figure he would have been there. Then again, he also knows a lot of details about Hawke's romances, which disturbs me slightly, lol. I'm hoping it's embellishment, or else Hawke might have to start checking around the house to make sure Varric isn't hiding in their wardrobe, watching their every move.
Am I the only one who does this, or is there anyone else who always has Varric in there party?
Does anyone else always take Varric with them?

I might take any single companion for a significant portion of any one playthrough, but in general no.

If I was playing as a Rogue who can pick locks then I didn't bother taking another rogue with me. If I wasn't then I tended to take Varric,. as Isabela kept getting killed and Sebastian was preachy and boring.

Not at all. He's great in the early game but I find him to be a bit underpowered in the late game. I tend to rely on Sebastian more in Act 3.
That said, I always try to take all of the companions with me at least a little.

I guess part of the reason I do it is because it's an OCD thing. Serotonin problems. What can ya do?

I take him for the same reasons as stated above, but i've just recently aquired Isabela to the part so i'm trying her out. Too bad she can't open locks any better than he can t this point though...

I really try.
It's so sad you can only bring three. Then I have to choose to leave either Varric, Fenris or Sebastian at home. :'(
I had the same problem in DAO, loved taking Alistair everywhere, he talked over everyone and I missed other character dialogue. But it was worth it.

Yea. Made sense with him knowing so much and just seemed like a good companion usually has extra dialogue or chimes in and its good. He is a well developed character, it also helps Bianca is a nice touch especially the AOE and damage output when you build him right.
