Other galaxies anyone?

The action of ME is basically set in the Milky Way. I wonder if we'll be able to travel and see other galaxies - the Andromeda Galaxy, the Wirlpool Galaxy etc. As far as I love the Milky Way, there's a whole universe out there - new races, new challenges and new wonders. I got an impression that our illustrious galaxy is quite secluded (well it is in fact considering the distances in the Universe
) - do we even know if intergalactic travel is possible in ME universe? I can't remember this having been brought up in the series.

Not presently, but it could easily be introduced. Like finding an ancient Mass Relay that's different from the others and discovering it links to another galaxy, coupled with some vague indications on why the Reapers would've ventured there in the first place.
But why should they do it? The way I see it, it's an unnecessary burden to place on keeping the lore consistent when the Milky Way is so unfathomably huge on its own. There's practically no need to move the setting to a different galaxy when there's so much to discover here. It would only make sense if you wanted to introduce a new galactic community with new races etc., but I've never been very keen on that idea either; our "own" races are interesting enough as it is, no need to abandon that so quickly.

Less than one percent of the Milky Way galaxy had been explored as of ME3. Heck, the entire relay network hadn't been charted yet. Plenty of space still available in this galaxy for exploration

That would be pointless.

Since all the relays exploded........ they were visible to those who had not yet discovered them. So any other space faring races could travel to the site of destruction. Discover a relay, and begin reverse engineering them to see how it works and how to reassemble it.
50 years later the milky way could receive an explosion of races emerging from uncharted relays, all not knowing about the galactic community and dealing with all that's out there.

Easy to justify other galaxies and ways to get to them. Heck they could have even sent out an Ark like ship through some relay to get out of the galaxy and thus the effects of the reapers and such. (My hair brained idea for ME4)

I don't get the whole "we want to go to different galaxies" thing.
Less than 1% of the galaxy has been explored as of ME3. The vast, vast majority of the relay network hasn't been charted. There's something like an estimate of 95 million habitable planets in our galaxy, and considering exactly how large our galaxy is, we have more than enough space in the Milky Way:

What this thread sounds like to me is another of those, "I am tired of games taking place in the same locations."

To add what other people have been saying, I agree. There's no point going to another galaxy.
And if we did, what would be the point of even calling it Mass Effect?

Nay, bad idea.
