Processor Manufacturer: Intel
Processor Type: Intel core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 3.0 GHz
Operating System / Service Pack: WindowsXP/SP2
System RAM: 3.25 GB
Video Card Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Video Card Model: Geforce 9800 GTX+
Video Card RAM: ??? (if anyone can point me where to find it, I'll get it.)
Video Card Driver Version: 6.14.13.142
Sound Card Manufacturer: C-Media
Sound Card Model: PCI (?)
Sound Card Driver Version: 5.12.8.1730
CD/ROM Type: CD-ROM
DVD Type: DVD-ROM
Hard Drive Type: IDE (?)
Free Disk Space:  C/305mb D/33.6GB (NWN2 install is here, along with saves) F/12.2GB

My problem is outlined here, exactly. (http://social.biowar...-6622112-1.html)The links to the atari community forums are 404'd, so I have no idea what was suggested there.

"When I try to use the world map to leave to the inn, the game stops for a second, then my character takes a step back. The left click of the mouse stops working and I can't rotate the camera, my character runs in place when I stop moving and I can't interact with world objects or NPCs at all. And, I can't access the world map again. I end up having to hard crash the game to get out of it."
Additional details: I can use the world map to trek back to the swamp ruins, but it's only when I head to the Weeping Willow Inn that I encounter the problem.

This takes place just after receiving the quest to go to Neverwinter.

Restarting the game does not work.
Restarting the machine does not work.
Reinstalling the game does not work.
Starting a new character(canned or created) does not work.
Updating does not work.
Changing resolutions/graphics options/etc does not work.

This issue only occurrs, (so far that I've seen) in the OC. I have no problems running MoW, but haven't tried any other campaign for fear of spoilers.

If I've derped on any specs that end up being important, I'll get those, I've just never done this before. I'm just at my wits' end. :(
Thanks in advance for anyone who can provide any help.<3

like Selene and NWN DM on that thread, I don't think you have nearly enough diskspace on your C: drive

Regardless of where the game is installed (or where your saves are), as soon as you load NwN2 a bunch of files need to 'unpack' to the operating system drive -- usually C:

then when the game closes, those files are deleted* (except for a few text logs). I really don't know how much space you should free up; but i'd think a few gigs at least.

* maybe :\\

What kevL says makes sense that disk space is a likely candidate, because C: is where the Windows temp folders are. The reason it works for the ruins but not the Weeping Willow Inn is possibly because the Inn requires transitioning from one module to another. West Harbour and the Swamp Ruins are in the first module, 1100_West_Harbor.mod. Weeping Willow Inn is the first location you visit in the second module, 1200_Highcliff.mod.

A little more detail on one thing -- when you say "When I try to use the world map to leave to the inn", does that mean the world map doesn't appear at all, or does the freezing happen after you click on the icon to go to the Weeping Willow Inn? If it doesn't appear at all, then it might not be because of the module transition itself.

If freeing up disk space doesn't work, what you could do is test a few things using the console. Here are commands to transition you to a specific waypoint in the right module, and to somewhere in a third module that you haven't tried yet.

Go to Weeping Willow Inn, around where you should be:
runscript ga_load_mod("1200_Highcliff", "wp_1201_to_1202")

Go to shop in Neverwinter. Don't talk to anyone here, or there could be spoilers.
runscript ga_load_mod("1000_Neverwinter_A1", "10_wp_city_to_sand")

Thanks, both of you, for even responding. I figured this forum was deader than a doornail.

Tchos, the world map comes up, and I can move freely between West Harbor and the swamp. The issue is ONLY moving to Weeping Willow Inn (The "Highcliff mod" I guess).

Booting up that machine as I type this, and will try your suggested solutions. My only problem is the C/ drive doesn't even have 10 gigs of space when clean: I just use it as a windows boot partition, but I will try tinkering with the console. (I'm no stranger to it, I just didn't know which commands to use. :( )

I had the kluge-y idea of maybe junctioning the temp folder to my D/ drive to give it the needed space? Or even change the registry value. I'll play with it and figure it out if nothing else works. Will let you know.

*****
So, I just tried the "runscript ga_load_mod 1200_Highcliff" console command, and it responds "VM reports unsuccess execution of script ga_load_mod for object" You'd think the error messages would be more helpful than "lol nope" ~~

(update x2) .... Unless I completely derped and used the console command wrong. That would be the sort of thing that'd happen ~~ "I'm no stranger! Let me shove my foot in my mouth." :|

I just tested it myself on a new game, and it teleported me successfully to the Inn exterior, along with Bevil and Amie, so either it's just a symptom of not being able to load the module, or perhaps you typed something wrong (capitalisation counts in the tags). And you of course need to activate debug mode before using the commands.

Here's a clear procedure to change the temp folders to another drive, on an msdn blog:

How to change the temporary folder if ...

it talks about burning DVDs, but the theory is identical. ( write down your current paths in case you want to change them back later )

here's another, a second opinion should you choose to dive in

How do I change the location of Windows temporary files?

You. Guys. Are. *Amazing.*

Like, are there forum cookies I can give you, or brownie points, for being so helpful? Because holy omg.

Junctioning and repathing worked wonders.

Thank you SO much for the prompt help. <3

Great movie.

Oh, and as for rewards, well, kevL's the one that solved it, but in cases where I do solve something, a word of thanks is plenty.  :)
