If the Warden and Hawke make a cameo, how do you want it done?

As DLC so people have nothing to complain about. If you don't want to see your old characters, don't buy 'em. I don't think my Hawke would be easy to find. She should be hiding somewhere.. But, if the GW have pivotal roles in-game.. I'd like to see a brief HoF cutscene. Preferably, in-battle.

I want them voiced (especially the Warden), I want the option to choose from preset faces or remake them in the CC, and I want them both to have major roles in a particular scene or two. I want codex entries, sure, but that's not nearly enough for me. I didn't make them just to see them become rumors in later games. I made characters that I intend to interact with at some later point as other characters. Seeing them shunted off to oblivion with a wink and a nod would severely disappoint. Getting to interract with them directly, on the other hand, would be extremely cool.

The idea that their absense is sacrosanct and that doing the Warden's appearance right just couldn't be done is highly frustrating to me, because I know it can be done well, and I have the opposite motivation.

Customized, reactive characters. CC customized appearance. Whatever issue they address in the story, either through words or action, allow us to assign their motivation/stance/attitude/whatever. (That bit would be nice, but not necessary. If assumptions are made based on the body of choices we made previously, I'm fine with that. I know that scares some people.) Beyond that, I don't need total control of the characters. Preferably they'll show up in scenes relevant to what we sent them off to do in their epilogues, but just tying those to any given scene would also work. I hope they show up with their LI at some point where it makes sense, such as with Morrigan. It'd be fantastic if they interacted with each other, as allies or adversaries. I just want them reactive to what I made them and to continue to be an active, visible part of my DA world until they're killed off in some way or retire. The Warden requires a little more work and expense for however much screentime they've got, but the payoff is immense if you treat it seriously.

Edit: I'd prefer their appearance be marketed as a feature, because it would be something unique and very cool. If not, I'm fine with the DLC idea. That does leave it entirely up to the player.

I can see a possibility for the Warden, using the portrait of the Warden that was used in game as an actual painting, which can be seen throughout Thedas, and perhaps at a memorial service for the Warden, with former companions and NPCs speaking about him/her.

The other option I'm not sure will work, unless the Warden is wearing full body armour or clothing, but they could do what TV does whenever they have someone who is supposed to be the Queen of England or the Pope, show them from behind in a non speaking capacity. If possible, they could see if skin tone and hair colour of the Warden is imported, though I doubt that is likely.

In a perfect fantasy world, I'd like a point within the game where our protagonist finds herself/himself working alongside the Warden & Hawke. Maybe they're commanding troops against a common threat, and during the battle we hear snippets of "The Warden has broken through the enemy's defenses"/"The Champion is poised with their men along the enemy's flank"/etc.

Afterwards, (in a cutscene, I'm thinking) we can see a helmeted male/female figure attending to some troops and someone can state "That's the Hero of Ferelden". Their respective LI can be close at hand and we, the player, would of course recognize them.

Hawke, I expect, would just walk right up and greet Varric and issue conrgatulations to our PC (assuming it's a victory); nothing over-the-top to contradict the nice/sarcastic/mean personalities, just neutral regards. Their LI will also be about, and with a wave from Varric and a "I'll be catching up with Hawke - meet up with you later!" they walk off in the vague direction of the Warden.

Ya know...in a dream world scenario.

A subtle mention of him or her would work for me. I just worry that given that there were so many variations on character that adding them to the game would do more harm then good.

I would control the Warden. I don't think Bioware can make her say things I would, so I want her control back. Hawke...I don't feel she was my character. they can let me see her head being cut in a fight with the Warden.

Rumors and gossip. While I would love to see both characters in some sort of cut scene, if even just from a distance, I think there's plenty of potential with having them mentioned in banter. The snarkier and more outrageous, the better.

I would love to do a quest with them or at least a proper ending for Hawke.

THIS!!!!

At least the part about rumors and gossip.

I have no interest in seeing the warden or Hawke anywhere in the game.  Someone else mentioned full armor leading a group in battle and I wouldn't hate this, because someone near my character would have to be pointing at them and saying - LOOK it's the famous Wardon who helped defeat the darkspawn, I thought they had died.   or look it's that famous Hawke person, my brother-in-laws sister calls Hawke the champian of Kirkwall.

My Warden died so that would be slightly awkward if she were to show up again. As for Hawke, she pretty much left Kirkwall in a situation where Sebastian swore to kill her and take the city (she wouldn't kill Anders). Either case, I'm sure it would tough. I like that DLC idea though.

I want them to clash in an epic swordfight.

My warden's LI is morrigan, and hawke's is isabella. So there's a good chance that might actually happen (lore-wise).

My Warden married King Alistair, soooo... that could be interesting. I admit I really want to know if Alistair manages to have any kids - will the Theirin royal line continue? But I realize the chances of that happening with both parents being Grey Wardens is probably nonexistent. Anyway, it would be fun to hear Alistair mention his kid, if it somehow works. I wouldn't need to actually see my Warden.

Now my Hawke - she dumped her LI (Anders) just before the final battle. So there'd be no LI to speak for her! I'm trying to think of how to get around that, but can't come up with anything, other than having a short cutscene of a fully armoured person in the distance, and maybe Varric excusing himself to go say hello to her.

Have them playable in a a DLC campain each expansion pack that takes place during the same time frame as DA: I.
Playing through said DLC imports scenes and/or quests with The Warden and/or Hawke.
That way you get a bit of choice as to why they are where they are in DA: I in the first place.
And naturally, choices in the DLC reflect in the main game so previous characters can appear in a variety of different situations, ranging from friends to enemy.

This way, you get to see your characters again and not have control taken away from you unless you allow it(Best results would add a setting that lets you choose wether a character imported from the dlc would have a large in game part, a small one or none at all.

This is probably my messiest post :P

Inquisitor: Where is the mighty Champion of Kirkwall anyway?
Varric: Well I hear the Champion is with the Hero of Fereldan fighting dragons in the Tivinter Empire.

Nice Response

Inquisitor:
Hmm. Did you make that up?
Varric: I sure did.
Inquisitor: I guess we'll never know.

Comedic Response

Inquisitor: You and your stories.
Varric: That's what I'm here for. Telling stories.

Aggressive Response

Inquisitor: You made that up.
Varric: Calm down. No one knows where Hawke or the Grey Warden went.

In rumors and gossip based about choices. That way even if it goes against canon personality there is a saving throw in that it is rumours.

The problem witht the teaming up situation is that my warden just doesn't care about the world anymore. (Talking darkspawn was it for her). And my Hawke would try (and likely suceed) to gain leadership from my new pc.

Also there is the most more audience based fear that showing Hawke and/or the warden will steal 'the thunder' so to speak and they at the mere concept of being former player avatars will steal away empathy for the current player avatar due to players already having a connection with them.

In a death match maybe even in Thunderdome style. In other words if they are not playable I don't care to see them again.

Hmm it's difficult situation first that if they show them they must have to personality ,warden is much more difficult to put because we created his/her personality of many possibilities one could be the messiah other practically be on darkspawn evil level.Hawke is easier because i always thought that hawke is more bio character than mine i could guide him only in 3 ways.Once i played nice hawke promage i was nice to most peoples but rude to templars and chantry supporters or others who deserved and nice response was supporting towards them so nice hawke is nice for everyone but in my game he was sometimes rude like talis told about qunari my nice hawke choose to told her that they are butchers by aggressive dialogue because nice dialogue was supporting so it is not so obvious.

In the other hand ignore them will be ridiculous and unreliable because they are most powerful peoples in world and saying that they must disappear because they saved already world is like saying that darth sidious should disappear because he conquered galaxy already. It could work if it wasn't too much common and they have good reason but which one another ancient evil?

Rumors are little better but still bad idea because as well they can tell that they are on the moon and could be relied upon like on DA epilogue slideshow and that hero of ferelden slept with isabela and 3 nugs.

Other is that bio will make canon personality which is very bad idea and will make a lot rage considering Revan.

Well i'm curious how it will end.

Mainly just because that scene had a genius freaking camera angle.

I'd sacrifice Hawke for a camera angle.
