As bodies you can loot, I want Vigilance and Champion armor back.

Would love both of these armors again but would also love to see the new ones and customization.

I don't want them to make a cameo. If they come back I want to play them.

I don't care how they do it, but I must 100% recognize either of them. I must know that it's myHawke and myWarden. It's hard, especially with the Warden, which has neither voice nor face, so unlike Hawke she can't even be heared. But we've got Fade, we've got Orlais full of masks - the way can be found, if they really need it.

Just please-please-please no Revan-Exile 2.0 - no canonizing for PCs!

Best for them to not appear at all but:

The Warden Commander silently and effortlessly plowing through an army of darkspawn at some point would be amusing. Especially appropriate with a duel-weapon rogue warden. By the early part of Awakening my rogue was an unstoppable whirlwind of death that could instakill anything with a tap.

It would also be fun and cathartic if there was an opportunity to kill Hawke. That would also work extra well for me since my Hawke that I would probably import was a villain in all but name.

I can understand not bringing back the Warden due to the obvious issues, but I would hate to never see Hawke again. They built him up to be DA's version of Shepard, with a canon design and voice actors. I really dislike getting a new main character each game. I would like to ride out one character's story over a few games like in Mass Effect.

Still I just don't want either one to be completely written off or dead. I have emotional attachments to both characters (and my Hawke moreso than my Warden, though I realize I'm the minority with that) and I'd honestly hate building up the Inquisitor in DA 3 only to have DA 4 roll around and say "Yep he/she is dead/forgotten, so here's some other dude!"

I'm still bitter that we never got the DA 2 expansion and I think Hawke at least deserves proper closure. The Warden is better off left a mystery in my opinion. Someone said in a different thread (or maybe even this one) that rumors and gossip about the Warden/Hawke through-out the game is a pretty cool idea. I'd prefer whisperings about the Warden and direct interaction in some form (cameo, DLC quest) with Hawke.

as a passing mention, don't really have the need to see them agian, I mean I already played them, and don't want bioware to add them in just for the "Squee!!!" shots of them.

Also considering in a few playthoughs my warden IS dead. seeing him come back as an undead... would not be the greatest things.

I'd like to see a brief and rather funny cameo and then seeing them leave .

I don't see any of my Wardens making a cameo - they're all dead. As for Hawke - I'll accept a cameo where I get to kill him.

I want Hawke to be mentioned in some fashion. I don't really need to see him, but I'd prefer he not be left in reserved for future use limbo now that they're not actually ever going to use him again. Mark owes us some closure, I reckon—it doesn't have to be much, but there should at least be some effort made toward it (especially if any of his companions are returning).

Killing either protagonist offscreen as a way to simply eliminate any continuity issues would be unacceptable to me. In my case, the only Warden I'd ever import is dead, so I guess there's not much way they could screw that one up, but I don't want Hawke to be some random casualty of them not being able to come up with a way to credibly close out his story.

I think no matter what they do its going to be a mistake, but for me the best possible outcome would be the characters either hooded, wearing a helmet, or having their face hidden for I don't want a "That is not my Warden/Hawke" comments and only if The Warden is silent for The Warden was silent in Dragon Age: Origins and only if they are able to get the original voice actors for Hawke or make Hawke silent as well.

As far as type of encounter I think anything combat related would be a mistake especially if there is any player control because they combat systems have changed so much and probably will again there would be a lot of people upset. An example would be my Warden-Commander for I have four specializations at the end of Witch Hunt and I highly doubt they would recreate that kind of system.

Actually, scratch all that the best way they can make a cameo is a person closing a door while coming inside and saying "I never thought I would ever meet The Warden-Commander and Hawke".

I could care less about Hawke, but for my Warden a cut scene with their LI. Oh and the cut scene should have something to do with their specializations if bioware could figure that out. If they can also find the VA's for the combat voices to do the voices in the cut scene that should suffice? I don't know it's a little risky because my warden was MY warden.

I'm not fond of the term cameo, to me it sort of means "gratuitous, irrelevant appearance that breaks the fourth wall". If Hawke, the Warden, Merrill, Sandal or whoever else play an actual part in the story, then by all means, have them in the game. If they're just here to break the fourth wall by going wink wink nudge nudge "remember me ?"... then I'd rather avoid that moment.

Mainly, I just want them to have their HEA already. They did their work; they don't need to be messed with anymore!

If we're going to be traveling all over, it would be nice to bump into them, battling the demons and whatever in their own areas of the world. Maybe have a side quest to help them with a major part of their battle.

I'd like them to walk on screen and immedately explode.

If your import includes either of them having an LI, I'd like said LI to immediately begin making out with an NPC in front of the Inquisitor.

I don't particularly like cameos unless there is an absolute reason for it. MY Hawke is cruising around aboard a ship and unless they have a reason to be back in the story I would prefer they remain on that ship. The warden too is progressing nicely in my own little multi-threaded universe.

If they are not central to the storyline, I would prefer that they stay out of it. DA doesn't have to be strung together like a bad set of unending sequels. There are heroes enough to tell their own tales.

I would want them to have invisibility turned on so we don’t see them.

I wold love for them to be in a cameo. Something tasteful, perhaps white silhouettes carved out of alabaster facing each other over a backing of ebony. That could be rather cute. If it were a lootable and wearable locket or brooch, that would be awesome.

I'm all for the proposed rumor system that's been mentioned before for the Warden. I think towards the end of the game though the PC should learn that the Warden has actually been recently appointed First Warden and that s/he's too freaking busy to see them.

Hawke could be easily handled if Varric is actually a companion. His entire purpose would be to find Hawke, chasing clues to his location but never actually finding him. Maybe a cameo towards the end, but fully hooded/helmed to keep things easy.
