Though I am interested in seeing how
she develops, for now, I think she's been given the "Boba Fett"
treatment. When Fett first appeared in the second and third Star Wars
movies, there was suddenly a massive fandom about him; however, he'd had
very little dialogue and we knew nothing about him, so people
attributed so many attributes and qualities to him. I just hope that all
these assumptions; that Cassandra is "intelligent, strong, romantic,
companionable" are satisfied, because if Bioware lets Cassandra fans
down, it won't be good. In the end, we still know little about her, so
for now, I think we should keep our assumptions low and expectations
high.
Boba Fett didn't get a 90 minutes anime movie just to show his backstory before he showed up in the third movie.
The intelligent/strong is coming directly from the dev in the DotS backstage video (they also hint at the overarching story of DA/Thedas in it). The romantic, we have examples of in both DAII and DotS: her behavior after Hawke killed the Arishock and the way she keeps talking about her brother in DotS (
in a creepy way).
Companionable? She's grouchy, brash and her concept of an handshake is threatening people with weapons. Also, stabbing things...
