First post to the forum. Normally I consult the wiki when I have a question, but I couldn't find and answer there, and I can't think up a search string that might get me to an answer. So let me try to explain the situation and my question.
Normally it appears that after you get the Reaper IFF you are locked into having EDI install it, followed by the collector kidnapping, with the only exception being that you can still do Legion's loyalty mission.
Last time I played, however, the reaction was different. Miranda had some different lines of dialogue than I have seen before. EDI did not insist on installing the Reaper code. I did Legion's loyalty mission. And still the kidnapping would not trigger. I was all ready for it, but nada. So I went over to the Omega 4 relay and chose "enter." at which point the kidnapping finally happened.
So my question is: under what circumstances will the kidnapping not happen after you get the Reaper IFF?
The only things I can think of is that I had 2 squad members not loyal. I lost Jack's loyalty during the MIranda/Jack confrontation and wasn't going to bother getting it back. I was also saving Zaeed's loyalty mission for after the Suicide MIssion since I wanted to leave him to roast at the refinery. The Jack thing should not have made a difference, since I have played it before where I lost her loyalty and the kidnapping was still forced on me. So the only thing I can think of is that not doing Zaeed's mission was what was keeping the kidnapping from happening. Is he the only squad member who has to have their loyalty mission left undone to prevent the kidnapping? What other circumstances will prevent the kidnapping from automatically occuring?

The Collector kidnapping will be delayed if you have at least one squad member with an incomplete loyalty mission. The kidnapping can be delayed by up to 2 missions if you have 2 or more squad members with incomplete loaylty missions. I do not think it will be delayed more than 2 missions, although it has been a while since I last knew that particular answer.
