Poll time! Did not include the "joke" alternatives such as reapers,
hanar, volus, collectors, etc.. cause that would unfortunately skew the
results, and i think its almost guaranteed that they wont actually let
us play as any of them.

Human. Simply because I can not connect the same way to a character if it's a tentacle woman instead of a being like myself.

Space High Elves. To get +2 bonus to Space Magic. you know, the real power in ME universe comes from it.

Human. While I think being limited to one race is a bad move, bring limited to something other than human is bad for the casual fan.

Care to elaborate why? Immersion is an important factor to me, and I like to play a story as a character who I can relate to, That's why I prefer to play as a male human, because I can't place myself into the mind of an asari, because I don't know how they think. If asari and/or other races are playable in the next mass effect, it would be a great addition to the game, but in my opinion a human protagonist if you can only pick one race would be the best for the casual public, and would be the race I would like to play as.

I would like the opportunity to play as something else, but if we were limited to one, I'd prefer it be human.

Not my preference but it is going to be human.

They removed the race choice from Dragon Age, giving the player only humans to choose from, so I can't see them doing the opposite with Mass Effect.

Yahg, obviously. Or Threshermaw. Or maybe one of those weird looking horses with hands from me1-planets. Or the silvery monkeys.

I'm sorry, but I actually wouldn't mind a Blasto game as a spinoff in the future

Human has to be an option. I seriously don't think a game where you had to be an Asari would sell very well. I like them, but I wouldn't want to be forced to play as a female. Options are good-I would love a game where you could pick a different species, but human is pretty much a must as far as I'm concerned.

Human biotic all the way. I cant see myself being anything else. Though if I had to pick, I'd choose a male Drell, with biotic skills of course :)

I voted Human because I assume we are talking about 'core games' in the series. Of course I'd love to see spinoffs where you play a Turian version of Batman - Y'know, Garrus? - and absolutely would love to see a game with more species options, but I do think that Humans and how they fit into the setting are an important factor to the franchise.

I prefer playing Asari and Turians. My Multiplayer history speaks for itself. But I think a Human protagonist is just best for the franchise.

Krogan.  They're just too fun for words.  Second choice would be Salarians.

well - anything but human will do nicely for me :) (i love humanity, but i am human, so why would i want to play one, at least if there are other options? - i am not one of the "stick close to home" kind of guys who try to insert themselves into the game (in so far as race and looks are concerned, the rest is pure me, yes - i never "roleplay" in the way that i make a character and then play the game like this imagined character would, i always do what i would do in RL if given the choice) and can't play any other way)

greetings LAX
ps: I would not want to play a batarian though ;) (slavery is not for me and neither is being a thug...and let's face it, most batarians where either criminal thugs or part of their government, meaning they helped uphold slavery) or a vorcha ;)

Why are the Batarians not a choice? You humans are all racist!

(I would happily serve the glorious Hegemony and help rid the galaxy of the blight known as "humanity")

Damn uppity humans.

I'd like to play the worst kind of batarian reject. Lost his family, children, and pretty much entire civilization. The galaxy will be a giant cesspool. It'll be a bit like Mad Max, except with a pet Varren instead of dog. There will be little dialogue. Just silent closeups, before he puts an AT-12 Raider into everyone's face.

i am not racist - i just haven't met a decent batarian ingame (in ME1-3)...they were all either slavers (which i despise/hate), thugs (criminals - yes i can understand that those leaving the hegemony had to make a living and doing so as a thug is easier than trying to make an honest living (and less hard work)) or loyal to the hegemony (which condones slavery and a caste system (!) - which i can't accept either) - so yes, i have my reasons for not liking them :) (and none of reasons are "they look like crap", "they are not human" or something like that)

so, yeah batarians should be an option (but without them necessarily being one of the above mentioned things)

greetings LAX

Slavery and thuggery doesn't really matter when this universe's ultimate god is an idiotic AI who preserves life by mashing it into paste. Every choice, every moral stand, every value.. it's all a moot point.

you got a point there (and that is why i HATE ME3 - yes, playing it is still fun (if you take it like a cheap shooter...Serious Sam like and don't play for the story) but it is a bad game)
