I think I would be a little miffed if returning characters got only passing mentions or minute cameos, like in DA2.

"Oh, hey there Oghren -- oh, well I'll see you later".
"Morrigan who?"

I honestly don't know what to expect from Inquisition so it's difficult to make a guess about what might potentially disappoint me. The aspects that disappinted me in DA2 were things I didn't expect, such as the recycled levels.

Based on the little information we have right now, my biggest concern would be performance on my current hardware setup. I can run Battlefield 3 quite well, but I'm hoping performance in Frostbite 3, and more specifically DAI, will be pretty much the same.

I see some people are concerned about the potential absence of old characters, but that doesn't really matter to me. While I love certain characters, such as Shale and Dog, I wouldn't be disappointed if they can't make it into this game. I think it's probably best if Justice/Vengeance returns in some capacity, since he started a war and all.

I forgot about microtransactions.
They're focusing on customization (armor, weapons and the castle) ; if there is microtransactions I will be disappointed.

Frankly, I'm not against some rare armor & weapons packs (as seen previously in ME or DA), but if you're making effort to improve customization, it shouldn't have to go through multiple, numerous, DLCs or, worse, an ingame store. You were still allowed to mod your game in DA or ME on PC. If I can't mod my game and if there is microtransactions it won't feel good at all.

I add this to my previous comment:

Two things would disappoint me:
- Using the Frostbite 3 to make a beautiful game but ignoring what it's capable of gameplay-wise.
- Focusing on fanservice. I don't want private jokes every 5 minutes (Calibrations, enchantment, etc.). This is the only aspect of the trailer that worries me (if you don't know anything about Dragon Age, how can you be excited by this game?). They keep saying they're listening to the fans and their audiences, I hope they'll listen to themselves

So basically, to sum it up:
Forget about fans, do what you want.
Forget about the the actual worst tendencies of the industry.

That's all folks :)

A rushed story/ending that doesn't feel complete. No variety in or interesting companions. Microtransactions. Not leting me feel connected to my character (Voice, choices, consequenses, etc). That kinda stuff would make me disappointed!

Fair enough. I really only meant this thread to be for constructive criticism or player opinions that could be helpful. But then again, this is BSN.

If they don't take it to the next level in creating a living, breathing fantasy realm. Taverns should be filled with songs, stories, and drunken bar fights. And where is all the singing? Songs are such an important part of high fantasy, a la Kingkiller Chronicles and LOTR. Weather effects, day/night cycle, different terrain, different cultures on display, and an atmosphere that is unique to every place we visit. They have been given extra time. They are working with next gen hardware. Add the same level of care to the "character" of the world as they would to any companion.

Oh yes. I know it's a beloved topic, but MP is really the only thing I am looking forward to about DA:I. So if it's not around or if it's terrible.. yeah.

The fact that some fans, it seems to me anyway will say or do anything to try and ruin the enjoyment of others, but there is not much that anyone can do about it.

Is this still going on?

Has anyone here actually read one of his books? Based on what I've read human sexuality and legal issues concerning it don't really factor into the stories. He checks that stuff at the door.

Now if you want to go rant about an author who's peripherally (at best) connected to Dragon Age over Issues which he speaks out on as a private citizen but doesn't write about in his fiction (so far as I'm aware) kindly do it elsewhere.

I think it is perhaps you who is not as well versed in Card's writing as he believes he is. Try reading his "Hamlet's Father", where the characters of Shakespeare's play are all described as both gay and child molesters.

And demanding tolerance towards bigotry (especially bigotry who whishes to criminalize and imprison people for being who they are) is not "tolerance". It is a parody of tolerance.

Because most people want everyone else to have the same opinion as themselves (hey I do it sometimes). If they're not happy with a game, they want everyone else to be unhappy with it, too.

But I digress.

It's not my main concern for DA:I but I am definitely interested too by what they have in store for a potential multiplayer.
I liked what they did in ME3.

This would be my main desire for DA3. I need happy endings in stories.

I don't play video games to have my hopes and dreams crushed. (A bit dramatic, but still)

Hmm, you will always get people that really dislike a game, especially when it comes to fans that love certain other games from Bioware sooooo much. I am one of those people. I make no secret about hating DA:2 for everything that it is, and that I think its a rushed piece, of console pandering garbage, with subpar story, characters, combat (Oh my god how they screwed the combat).... you get my point. Its because I love Baldurs Gate so much, and I was so hyped and pleased when I played DA:O.. it gave me that epic inject of good old rpg with updated graphics. But when you have fans that have so many strong feelings surrounding certain games, ofcourse you will get alot of negative feelings when they see something they don't like.

I really believe its not about ruining the experience for others. All the heated debate about which DA is better is more of a testament to how good games Bioware actually make.

If an experience truly was good for you, then no amount of negative posts will change that. It was good, and you should just stick to that.

I feel like Bioware has heard all the complaints about DA:O and DA2 loud and clear and are doing their best to listen to them. So I'm fairly confident that they won't disappoint me at all. But for the sake of the thread, I guess there's two things I was disappointed in for previous games that if they aren't better in DA:I, I will be disappointed:

1) If I'm playing as a blood mage, I want someone to notice, unlike both previous games where my companions would all rage about blood mages while I've been stabbing myself every battle, yet they still love me.

2) I want to have some method of talking my way out of combat, like in DA:O.

But I'm confident both of those will be resolved for DA:I.

My expectations of the game are moderate. I don't expect anything amazing, but I don't expect it will be bad either.

um i dont want to be basicly forced into a romance with companions such as anders and if im a blood mage i want to be able to summon demons or like one of the above post mentioned that people would notice and also if you change the look of the npcs from the previous game to much like what you did to zeveran and alistair other then that i have pretty high expectations for this game

I guess I could answer myself, too

But that being said, do you have high or low expectations for Inquisition?

High. It's almost dangerous. But I'm in love with the series so I don't think I'll be too disappointed if my expectations aren't met.

What would disappoint you about this game

A relatively short main plot that just sort of ends without any closure

What would you absolutely NOT want to see in DA3?

One choice that trumps all others. I understand that this may be unavoidable, but I'd rather my choices have more weight and meaning. If I can save everybody by just going to the mages then it's pointless. I want to have to sit and make a tough decision and maybe even sweat a little thinking about it.

And what would disappoint you if some sort of something did not make it into the game?

I'd be disappointed (mildly) if they didn't have new specializations and if they didn't bring back arcane warrior

Hopefully nothing

fear they could have some significant part of the game (like the return of Leliana) dlc only so gamers like me with no home internet connection will miss out

I agree, for me the biggest fear is that the combat will still be based around enemy waves, like, every fight you know that there are 2-3 waves of enemies. The DA2 dlcs sort of hid the respawning enemies, but the combat was still based around waves of enemies.

Why can´t we have stronger enemies instead, but restrict waves only to boss fights? The worst part of DA2 is going through the city at night, and having to deal with the endless waves of thugs that plague the streets.
