Started a new game tonight - finished the joining and find that I am unable to sense Darkspawn with this char. So I check my old one. I am unable to sense darkspawn via the mini map at all aftr the patch - anyone else have this issue? Any fix?
Talk to Allistair after you defeat the Ogre, after you exit Flemeth's hut, when Morrigan has just joined your party.
Your dialogue options will be along the lines of,
"I think we should just get moving"
"I'd prefer it if you speak your mind"
"I'm okay with it if Alistair is"
and "I'd like to ask you some questions first"
When you select "I'd like to ask you some questions first," one of the options will be regarding how she intends to get you past the Darkspawn. She mentions the real problem is how to get Alistair by them, which then proceeds to further dialogue, where he mentions that you (Your character,) is UNABLE to sense Darkspawn at this time, as it takes time before you have that ability. The ability never gets added to your character nor shows up in-game, since it takes many months for Grey Wardens to be able to sense them.
The only reason you might've been seeing monsters on your map before is because someone, maybe Jory or Daveth, or maybe your old character, had Survival, which shows monsters on your mini-map, depending on the rank of the skill, or if they're close enough to initiate combat mode. You do not get the awesome Darkspawn Sense, sorry.
Now, my technical issue...
Armor and Weapons get... 'Stuck,' after cut-scenes. For example, on my first play-through as a Human Noble, I ended up doing the romance scene with Morrigan in full Juggernaught Armor... Helm and all... Futhermore, when switching weapon sets after a cut-scene, I find myself able to shoot arrows using a dagger... It's only after cinematics, and while I can still switch armor and weaponry on my inventory screen, the character graphic never changes. I have not encountered this problem for any character except the main PC. I admit, while it is somewhat amusing to watch your City Elf Rogue Backstab someone with a longbow, and wear the quiver like a glove, it's a bit annoying, especially since it breaks certain scenes in the game... Like the romance scene's...
Save and Load fixes the 'Sticky Armor,' but the next cutscene will immediately cause the issue again. I have found ZERO exceptions to this case... I assume it's some issue with my game specifically, I did have problems installing the game the first time around, but I don't know. If anyone else notices this problem, let me know, and hopefully, BioWare will fix this, along with the other numerous issues people are experiencing, both inside and outside the game.
On that note, fix your damn Social Site guys. My friend has been unable to redeem his DLC codes since release now because every time he tries to log-in to this 'Social Network,' or redeem codes, it keeps telling him to create a new account. Get your act together. If you're going to create something like this, show it the same love and respect you show your games, or in EA's case, your money. And while you're at it, at least get one of the guys at BioWare to mention that your working on the issues posted here. This -IS- your Tech Support Thread, and it's, oddly enough, the one with the LEAST Developer/Employee activity.
And if any of you guys at BioWare know Stanley Woo, or who belongs to that Screen-name, tell him he won our bet, and when I get out to Edmonton, I'll make sure he gets to throw a pie in my face and I'll buy beer for the entire studio up there. Cheers.
