I read the book that came with the game and followed the instructions to update video drive, and Direct X, worked just fine for me.  Then installed the game no problems whatsoever.  In game play the only problem I'm seeing is in the town of Redcliffe.  Game won't move forward.  I did the Broken Circle quest with no problems.  I got to Redcliffe got through the Day part of the quest just fine.  Got overwhelmed and got everyone killed.  I deleted this save and now when playing through this same area again the game won't advance.  I've killed all of the walking corpses in the town and on the hill and Bann Teagan won't come out of the chantry to meet me on the hill.  I've checked the lake, town, plus inside the windmill, and keep moving back to the hill, went to the castle. NOTHING will advance the game - played six hours last night in same area no advancement of the game. I didn't have one problem until I deleted a saved game.  After the delete of the saved game, then the game won't play through.  Apparently, this game is deleting more than just a saved game and when the delete occurred it corrupted the file for this area.  Had issue and trouble with game between the quicksave and regular save.  Seems to be an issue with this for me anyway. The game is causing my video card to get hot and I'm seeing lag with this; but, this could be due to the fact my docking station isn't working right, fan keeps going off.  Same problem as everyone else, after playing for several hours loads of lag.

Vista SP2 32bit HP
Intel Dual T2310 1.46GHz and 1.47GHZ
2.00 GB
GeForce 8400 GS
Dragon Age Origin Collectors Edition.

Also is the patch for this edition as well?

Oh yeah, EA has me owning an XBox edition, funny, I don't own an Xbox!!!!!!Image IPB I can't correct this either on this forum  or their forums.

Edit: game played better offline than while signed into Dragon Age servers.   Also, my games are registered at EA but they aren't showing as registered here.  Sure would be nice to use the search option for this forum.  Also, deleted first game that I was playing deleted all of it and started over is when my problems started.  Just so you know be careful with deletes.  I'm also having the same issue of game server being online but saying I'm not.  I will jump back to destop and open IE and I've got a connection? Sad but true. Image IPB

Just got a Crash to desktop that said Dragon Age has stopped working and the app = daorigins.exe

Ive only had 3 crashes to desktop in 30 hours of gameplay, but the last one was in a very important spot. I dont get this error on any other game, just on Dragon Age every 10-12 hours it seems.

- Windows XP
- EVGA Nvidia 8800 GTS 512
- 3 GB or ram
- Intel Quad Core
- Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1
- Service Pack 3

Latest updates for all my stuff, except my video card is 2nd newest driver as that works best for me.

The two crashes I had awhile back where in Lothering while talking and then tonight I had one in the MAGE mission, where we are helping them out and its in the dream.

hai, i have a problem that i redeem my code for my collector's edition but after that nothing happened and i cant use the code again ( ofc i know he warning ) but when i entered it i expected to work but nothing happend ...sadly any1 know something about it..if you do already thanks

have the same problem i bought DA standart with Sheila and Dragon armor , activated my codes and still don't have the content . I even bought 560 DA points , but can't use them because the game doesn't give me any content to pay for !!!!!! PLZ HELPPPP

Didn't feel like re-posting the lengthy testing I did with Windows 7 x64 and the game crashing every 15 minutes or so, but you can find it all in the above link. The community has been very helpful with this BTW.

To sum it up. I can play the game about 15 minutes, sometimes longer, before the pc crashes. I have to do a hard reboot. This happens during the Harrowing (The Fade) and in Ostagar. I was able to play SEVERAL hours in the mage tower before going to Ostagar.

My Specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium X64 (fresh install)
GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz
4G Mushkin Enhanced DDR2 800
8800GTS 512MB (Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev 2 cooler)
Ultra X-Connect 2 550W PSU
Dell 2407 WFP monitor
I'm using the Realtek onboard sound

- tried various nvidia drivers
- tried setting my affinity to 1 core
- installed patch 1.01b
- tried all sorts of resolutions and disabling AA - played in a window as well
- monitored my cpu and gpu temps toa file and posted them in my link (they're all within reason)
- unplugged the use of USB headphones
- disabled sound in device manager
- tried loading different save games - even started a new character
- I'm not overclocking anything
- bios on mobo is current
- can play other games with no issues
- my pc is well within the "recommended" setting, not just "minimum"
- changed my power plan in win 7 to high performance
- ran Prime95 for 12 hours under a torture test ( In-place large FFT's setting) - no problems

After running all of these tests, and seeing lots of other people with the SAME issue on various hardware, I think it's safe to say there is a problem with the game, or the game doesn't work well with either a specific driver, piece of hardware or the OS. I'm posting this in hopes that someone at Bioware might make use of the tests I've done, plus have a fix for this soon.

*** E-mailed official support since I need to learn to read as well :). It won't hurt having this info here though.

The official game support sucks. Period. They aren't even aware of the issue with the ATI 3870 and crashes after loading saved games.

I've got the hungarian copy of the game, with the DLC Stone Prisoner, Blood Dragon Armor, Lucky Stone. Is there any possibilities to upgrade the game language to english with some kind of language pack? Thanks for the help, and sorry if I posted it in wrong topic.

Hey, My problem is that when I talk to perticular guy (main quest guy that you talk to to go to redcliff castle , he says something about the secret passage) the game crashes completely and have to restart computer manually. what the hell do I do because its part of main quest!?

I had windows vista backed up the bioware folder in my documents then installed win 7. I then started DAO then exited it then replaced the Bioware folder that was created in documents with the the one I copied earlier. Now for the stone prisioner and the collectors edition items, I get unauthorized... thus my save games wont work either.
 

I have the dvd version and logged in with the same account since I only have one account with the game. Any help would be apreciated ty.

So ive done everything in the fade now (mage tower) to get to the middle but ive come across a bug trying to rescue shale from his dream, the statue right at the entrance to his nightmare wont let me pass, my character just runs at it and not past.



Shale being my tank and all and playing on hard, very unlikely i'll be able to beat the sloth demon without him, any fix for this? cant carry on with my game without one :S

I have read many replies to not even getting the game to start I have the same problem aftrer the install I run the configuration and it produces an error then shut down not even letting the game to start I have more than enough hardware to run this game what gives with the EA support I have with no luck posted my complaint and all the extra files they want and heard a word waste of money? maybe! anyone out there thinks they can help me let me know

when i try to log on during ingame play, it says i am not connected to the internet, how do i fix this. also i have the patch downloaded from the website, how do i install it to my dragon age game? so that the new updtates take affect????

Dear lord. I suppose my problems are rather petty compared to everyone else's. I didn't have any DLC issues nor with installing. I just need to save my game every 15min to a half hour and restart the game client.



I'm not sure if it's a Memory leak or whatnot. I've tried different settings and turning off Anti-Ailsing has helped quite a bit but it still chops pretty bad. All other games, MMOs infact like Aion and Everquest 2 run just fine on max video options.



I'm running Win7 64bit with 4gig RAM with a Nvidia 250 chipset 1gig DDR3 card. It's making me wish I'd purchased a console version of the game instead. I'm really sorry for everyone having worse problems than myself.



Otherwise I like the game! And as people have mentioned... the "Offical Support Page" is a literal joke. It must be running on a Pentium 2.

Here's a new one, and hopefully someone here can help me with it, since EA likely won't from what I have read in the forums so far. I have installed the game (retail) and updated drivers. The game configuration detects no problems with my software or hardware. However, once I launch the game, the is no text at all (excluding background splash). No text on the buttons, no character descriptions, no dialog text, nothing. Can't even enter a name for the character that I can see. Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Does anyone know how to resolve this, or did I just happen to buy a lemon?

I can't connect to the dragon age server and i need to so i can install the Fury of shale and blood dragon armor i guess it might be because i have dial up and a vista laptop but idk and i tried to look for technical support or something about connecting to the servers but i cant i tried the EA website and searched Dragon Age origins technical support and connection support and other things and still havent found anything...maybe im not looking hard enough idk but anyway when i do try to connect it either says im not connected to the internet and i am or it tries to connect for a bit then says can not connect at this time try later and i do and then it tries a long time to connect but doesnt do anything just keeps going. so if anyone has any advice or knows anything about it not working with vista or a dial up connection id like to know so i can just stop trying and play without it even though it freezes most the time and i cant make a new character cuz it freezes up after the intro scene which is very annoying

Hi,

Maybe someone posted my problem already, but I couldn't find it, so I'm posting it anyway.

I purchased DAO: Deluxe Edition, but I didn't get redemption codes for all of add-ons mentioned on this official site:  http://dragonage.bio...rdigitaldeluxe/

I did get wallpapers and soundtrack, but nothing else. I have contacted ea support 4 days ago, but noone contacted me yet. So, what should I do? BTW, I preordered it about a month before the game came to the store.

Hi first time on these forums

I was about 55 hours into my game and in the deep roads when suddenly for no reason it says my save file has been corrupt and i cant play it... naturally im "annoyed".

Is there any way of recovering the file or something like that? I was having A LOT of fun on my elf magi, and it would be a waste just to abandon for no reason

I dont know if this will help any of you but the game was crashing on me from time to time and i found it some how it is related to steam's hack protection program punkbuster. Dont run the game through steam instead run the game directly from the .exe also before running the game go into task manager and kill both pnkbuster.exe yes there are 2 of them.

I was playing just fine last night with zero problems.

All of a sudden I get CTD's after trying to load a saved game today. Between my logging off last night and starting it up again today I did NOTHING to my computer or the game. I'm at a loss as to how I would suddenly get these crashes. Granted I would get an occasional every few hours it wasn't anything to worry about since I save a lot. But now I can't even get the game running.

Also, this is before and after I installed that new patch.
