Nope, sorry. Nothing at all, short of getting a proper laptop instead of that old and underpowered thing you have now.

I have an odd issue that I can't seem to solve. Whenever I try to log on to the server, my game gets stuck on "contacting the dragon age servers." It seems to be logging in, but that screen never goes away, so I can't actually play the game.
Any solutions to this?
Hey, just a little update to my problem. I have the exact same issue when I try to upload a character from the Character Creator application to my account.
Clearly, I have an account, but for some strange reason DA:O just doesn't like to play with it?
I contacted EA support and, naturally, they're ignoring me. How shocking.
It's not a firewall thing, as I disabled my firewall. I don't think it's a router thing, because I put my computer in the DMZ. I mean, the little background icon says I'm logged in, but the foreground "contacting the dragon age servers..." just doesn't disappear.
I'm running a brand new Windows 7 64 bit rig that was built a few days ago, if that makes any difference.

I just once got an error code saying there was an error contacting the servers, and to try again later. But it only happened once.
I tried to run under windows xp compatability mode, but no luck :-/

My problem is the following: I played a character, installed all the DLC (shale, dragon age armor etc.) and then deleted that characters save files (not intentionally). So now I'm playing a new character and I can't seem to get to those DLC's, they're registered to my account and all it's just that I can't seem to find a way for my new character to acess those quests! Help please!

I'm having the exact same problem. Just bought it directly from EA.

The game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration. Please reinstall your game and try again.
I've searched all the forums and can't find anything about this, other than your post. Anyone?

I beg to differ. I sent in a very strong game bug to EA with detailed information on how to replicate it easily (a lot of people are geting caught by this one) and that they need to address it in a future patch. I got treated like a kid that can't complete a quest. They didn't even read the question which is very obvious. So if you want support, seems it might not exist...

I have confirmed that this is not true (EA that is)... I have posted a serious bug and got the canned "we support bugs and patches" answer. I replied and asked them to read again the question, it is not a gameplay question, it is a bug... Then they replied again with ohh we don't suppor the game either...
They don't even know what they do...

I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. Please be informed

So your EA link is not valid for real game problems... Or at least the people reading those questions are not actually knowledgable about what the company really does. They also seem to be incapable of talking between departments. Simply the above message should have been 'we have forwarded this to the proper department' instead of 'that is not our responsibility'. These customer service guys are obviosly poorly trained (if at all) and not I believe in the best interests of the company itself. (not to mention this reply was over 12 days after the original question was asked so...

Yeah I have the same problem. I contacted the support link you gave us and they told me to get in contact with developers to get game bugs fixed I need to come here on the forums!
One of you are obviously entirely wrong. But this is getting annoying I have a game bug and it is hampering my gaming experience and I need it fixed asap
It is a bug in the DLC content... After I finish it and you go back to the Warden's Keep you cant re-enter the castle this needs to be fixed so I can get back in there and finish this quest stuck on my journal

My Guildmaster's Belt is ever since from the start only recognized as an UNRECOGNIZED ITEM. And since I am unable to contact the bugged EA Support I don't know how I get it fixed.

Win XP 32 bit (didn't change any of my hardware stuff) tested it with both video cards the XFX 9600 GSO (580M) 768mb and the PNY 9600 GT 512MB and both play fine on XP 32 bit, can't tell any difference. Tried it on XP 64 bit and while it did run better than win 7 64 bit it wasn't much better after about 15min the game goes to crap again.
Tried Win 7 32 bit just for testings sake to see if it was the 32 bits that could run it fine and thats more of a 50/50. On XP 32 bit I could run completely max with the video cards at their standard settings (the GSO I have is slightly OC'd by the manufacturer and on Win 7 32 and 64 bit I have to OC it a bit more to get it running good, same with the GT)
My best answer for people is to run the game on Win XP 32 bit until bioware gets off their bums and puts out a patch (my money is on them waiting for this new DLC Return to Ostagar to come out to release their patch, it's what they did to us on Mass Effect we didn't get the 1.02 patch til Pennacle Station came out).
I seriously think this is bad form and bad business practic to put out a game that is riddled with bugs and only about 5% of the people who bought it can play it without any problems, the same thing happened with Ghostbusters back in June and as for them still not patching that game I won't be buying another Atari game for a long long long time (if ever).
I've always been a big fan of Bioware since the Baulder's Gate days and am really just ashamed for the company that they would do this to their fan base, company's need to remember that its the people who keep them in business although with peoples track records for buying things that are broken (cough xbox 360 cough) I'm not 1 bit supprised they get away with it. Bioware has a very short time on my list before I give up on them as a company I'm still going to buy Mass Effect 2 but if it comes out riddled with bugs and still no patch for this game that works I personally will be through with them. EA is known for being a PoS company (look how they ruined Dark Age of Camelot, that game hasn't put out 1 single expansion since EA took over and they wonder why its dead)
Edit: I tested all the windows I tested on with both the 191.07 and the new 195.65 drivers, both work about the same and noticed no diffrence on any other windows in case that helps (or rather doesn't). I'm officially done testing I'll be playing this on my 2nd Hard disk on win xp 32 bit with my 9600 gso (seems the best way for my setup)
Edit 2: I did test Vist both 32 and 64 bit versions and (suprise suprise) they ran even worse than Win 7 64 bit, didn't originally mention them cause they ran so horribly but I figured I'd save anyone scratching their heads wondering if I had tested those so yes I did and they are still pieces of crap.
Also according to Canyourunit.com I should be able to max this game out and fly.
Edit 3: Fixed the layout and removed some unnecissary text

Over canyourunit.com I've found out that my CPU is actually not fast enough for Dragon Age and I'm working to fix that, but the other games ran fine before I installed DA. Does anybody have a clue on what to do?
System:
Microsoft XP Home
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+ 2.4 GHZ
NVIDIA 8600 GT 512 MB

First off, IGNORE SR LABS their results are inaccurate so often that they are a laughing stock.
The Bioware developers made a last minute announcement on the old forum that amended the official requirements to include single core CPU minimums, and your AMD is above that limit. Second, seemingly more often than other Geforce 8000 cards, the 8600s have trouble with drivers conflicting with this game.
Incidentally, you were being kind to the prior commenter to try reading that mess. Most people, myself included, will just ignore a mess like that. Anyone writing that way doesn't deserve the favor of having such terrible writing style (no paragraphs) interpreted.
