Well, I went out and bought DA today, and if I can get it to install I'm sure I'll feel a bit better about the decision to shell out $50.  I'm getting a message that says "The current permissions are insufficient to write to the selected install folder".  I'm not quite sure what that means, but I'm logged into the PC as an administrator, and have 58.4GB free on the hard drive.  My PC specs are well above the minimum, though I don't think that would affect installation.  If anyone can help me with this I'd appreciate it.  

I had the same problem when it tried to install it in my program files folder. Just create a folder like "c:\\dragon age origins" and select that one. It should start installing then.

I got them all over the dialogs... the depth of field bugs - you all know what i mean.. will bioware fix this issue any time soon ?

This is an online game maybe some of the problems that we are having is some type of attack on the game. Just enough to tick us off. Really I am having problems myself some times the game will run for hours then crashs the whole computer. Other times it only runs for minutes or seconds. If I go back to an earlier save It sometimes works again for a while. It is as if the problem has something to do with the way the game saves. OK I fixed my problem seems that this game does not like overclocked computers. At least not mine, every other game I play does not crash my computer when it's overclocked. but this one would always crash eventually. Now that I am playing stock speeds on everything has not crashed since. So if you are OCing and crashing I would try going stock speeds.

Just downloaded the latest patch for this game. Now  i cant resume my story mode. In the game menu, i cant click on the load game menu. Checked downloaded contents, its like everything restted. Anyone could help? Thx.

I bought a new computer a couple of days ago, got everything installed and set up finally, and I tried to install DAO. Everything goes fine, until I try to get patch 1.02 installed, then I get a crash part-way through with the rror number [36]. that's all I get. No further explanation, nothing on google, nothing I can find in the forums about it except for one other guy posting that he too had this problem.



The patch worked fine on my old computer, so why am I getting an error now?



Old system: Intel Q6600, 4g geil DDR2 800, 2x 8800GT in SLI, Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

New System: Intel i5-750, 6gb OCZ Ultra DDR3-2133 ram, Radeon 5770, Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.



Surely my new system should have less problems with the game then my old one?

I found out something that may help a few people with the frequent crashes. For my PC at least, the DirectX that came with Dragon Age was the culprit. So I reinstalled DA, installed the patch and THEN installed the latest DirectX - for XP users that would be 9.27 (August 2009). Worked like a charm, game's been running without a hitch for an hour where it crashed within 10 minutes before. My other games are working again, too.

EDIT: And now they don't. I don't know why. They worked, and Dragon Age worked, and I leave the PC alone for an hour, come back - and everything's crashing again. The only thing that has changed were that I began downloading the DLCs again - so I'd wager that the error would be somewhere within them, or the daupdaterservice I think it's called.

EDIT 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: I'm currently reinstalling DA:O again. This time I'm going to leave it completely vanilla except for the official patches. Let's see if that helps any.

EDIT 3 RETURN OF THE EDIT: Game still occasionally crashes, but it's not as bad as it was before.

Intalled the latest patch late last night. And when i started the game this morning i can't acces my DLC when i am logged in on my account. It says that i am unautherized while i am logged in. It works perfectly fine when i loggout and load a save withe DLC. So i am wondering if anyone else has this problem.

Ok, I'm seeing issues with all pc user accounts and the game. Does each pc user account need a different email address, but for patches, and DLC registered owner has to to signed in to this? I would like to see a sticky thread on this. I'm seeing issues with this from other pc users and this is causing issues with character manager on my end.



I use the same email address for administration and standard account. Any suggestions on how to solve this issue besides creating another bioware account for each user?

It's Suprising to see so many ppl with High End Systems and can't play..

For 1. Did you install the best video drives? BUZZZZ Yes.. why? cause you think they are perfect WRONGGGGG.. for anyone thats got Nvida .. I suggest you look for 190.62 Divers in the Archieves.. So far I'm having a royal blast with the game V1.2.. As for the Memory Leak I suggest you send in BUG reports instead of saying.. WTF.. my game is soo damn sloww.. I keep crashing.. FIX the patch..

2. Did you also notice when you turn all your sounds off the game runs soo much smoother? Maybe your sound drivers are also the lastest ones.. use older ones..

3. Did you also consider not running the game on Maxed Graphics? Caww my System is soo Uber I got a Quad Core!! .. Get Over it.. this game only runs on Dual Core Mode..



Aye.. it sounds like I taking the panzy out on you lot.. but do you realized the amount of bull crap you're all complaining about is effecting the hard work they put into this game? NO?? Let them do their bloody jobs and then we can get back to playing a game that is worth the money you dished outta on..

I tried to reinstall DAO and now i can't even acces the DLC. And yes i tried to login on my account. There are nothing on the tabs. After i exit the gane It just keeps saying that DAUpdaterSvc.Service stooped working. The game worked fine for one week and the problem started after i installed the latest Patch.

I have used the previous fixes of downloading c+ runtime distribution updated from 01 to 02 patch.

I have updated all my drivers and i am on my fifth char so just finishing the game .



The game would crash after playing usually depending on how much zoning around i do.



Game will now not start at all just a blank screen which takes a minute or two to get rid of.



It has done this before but always managed to start by the third attempt but now it is permanent!



Any advice< have tried everything elsee do not want to re- install at this stage.

Was wondering if this has happend to anyone else or if someone knows how to fix it. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing and  it hasnt helped. Installing all the patches havent made a difference either. This happens in the menu and also in the portraits durring the game and durring character creation.

I played throuhg the main campaign everything was fine. Now I started
up a second character and the game play/ video plays extremely fast
like 5 times faster than regular video speed. I have restarted my
computer, lowered/raised graphics, and reinstalled the game. Any help?

I can't find "Topsider Blade". I 've oompleted the game once. Through-out the whole game. I still cannot get it.

I found it.  Tricky side quest to gain this sword.  Quest is in the deep roads.  You have to go to several areas to get each piece and take back to the topsider warriors grave.  (sorry spoiler).

After uninstalling/reinstalling the game( and then updated to 1.02), none of the DLC seems to work(Blood Dragon Armour, Stone Prisoner & Warden's Keep). They were downloaded automatically but install always fails. Req. game version is highlighted in red(v1.0) - though it makes no sense as I've seen people having no problems after applying the patch.

Paying with PayPal for additional content = 60 seconds
Getting them to work correctly = 3 days and counting

hi all, i don't want to read all topic pages, so there is my question. after installing DA:O i tryed to get DLC, but there was blank page in the game. after some analyze i found that daupdatersvc.service.exe can't start but some times ago it started very well. the error code is 0xc000007b (initialization error), dotnet framework was successfully installed, win xp 32bit, what the problem is and how to fix it?
