The more work the video card has to do the power it will need to do it. And so the more heat it will put out that will need to be cooled off or your card will over heat.
It like a car the faster you go the more gas you will use and the more heat it will push out. Now if you car can do 100mph but needs let say 5 millilitres of gas a second to do it. But the fuel pump you have in the car can only pump 4.5 millilitres of gas a second. Then you never going to get to 100mph and when you get to about 90mph your car will start to splutter and give you problems. This is why it is best to have the biggest wattage PSU you can in you pc.
But like I said if it working now do not mess with it. Clean the dust is the best thing you can do.

I know this is a well-posted problem, but heres my experience:
both cpu cores maxed at 100% during the game
randomly crashes to desktop every 5 minutes on average
have even gotten the blue screen a few times
its not excessive temps because I have been monitoring them
and im not running anything in the background (except fan control)
im using the latest 1.02 patch
max graphics settings with 0x anti-aliasing
this is rediculous; i WANT to play this game now while i have the holidays!!!
please fix it bioware!

Core2Duo 3.0 GHz

I'm having a similar problem. The game just randomly crashes during cutscenes. I've tried many configurations with drivers, and none have worked so far. My PC is more than capable of running the game on max settings. The game displays no error other than windows saying "Dragon Age: Origins has stopped working"

At Redcliffe I choose to help the villages fight against the zombies, I talk to Murdock after getting every possible morale boost and say 'Let's start the fight' or whatever.
I appear up with the knights, zombies come. Eventually they stop coming. Battle music continues.
I went everywhere. There are no zombies at the top of the hill. No zombies by the docks. No damn zombies anywhere.
I really, really, really, just want to play the damn game. Please someone help me here. And don't tell me to look for zombies. There are none anywhere. I know there have been for other people but that isn't how it is for me.

Anyway, I just got the PC version of Dragon Age: Origins on DVD-ROM. When I get to the screen where you have to enter in the key on the back of the manual, I enter it in exactly as it is on the back of my manual - and I am quite certain I entered it correctly, for I looked over it several times; didn't mistake any eights for B's or anything like that - and when I click on Next (or whatever the button is; can't quite recall right now ^^; ), it tells me the code is invalid.
Now, I'm at my grandmother's house, and cannot connect the laptop to the Internet. I have Windows Vista (unfortunately DX ). I bought it from GameStop. Might anyone know how I might fix this, or what the issue is? Am I going to have to return it to the store or contact EA for a new code or something? Thank you so much for your help.

((PS, if I end up posting things twice on accident or something, it's because my Internet is rather shoddy right now)).
Tried to restart the PC, and reinsert the DVD. Didn't work, but I got a screenshot. i49.tinypic.com/24lsac2.gif

Why do I ask well some older CD or DVD drives cannot read the copy protection on the CD or DVD. You can install the game but when the games look for the copy protection on the CD or DVD as it cannot read it, it will give you the error message you are getting. Now we had this problem with Half Life 2.
It is not your CD or DVD drive that is faulty but the copy protection on the CD or DVD. All drivers and made to a minimum red book standard but it looking like Dragon Age Origins copy protection is out side this red book standard. If you can try a differing drive a USB one might just work for you.
This might be the error and it might not try clean the drive as well.
And before anyone say it cannot be this yes it can. When half life 2 came out I was work for a PC manufacture and we had lots of user call say there drive was bad as guess would had told them it was. I even used my own game cd and fresh PC of line and got the same message after full testing the drive over night to the red book standard the game still would not work we put in a older working drive and got the some problem but after we talk to the drive manufacture we got a firmware update out of them from the drive after a month that fix it. Same hardware just new firmware.

I installed the dao patch on my laptop's copy of the game while I was in the endgame area. Once everything was installed, it seemed to be working ok, but then all of a sudden I went from having over 100 items in my inventory to having less than 30. ALL my health poultices were gone (and there were like, 30), all my injury kits, all but 2 of my lyrium potions, all my miscelaneous elemental balms, the extra armor I was carrying for my party when they leveled up, the extra special arrows, nearly everything had just disappeared. I still managed to beat the game anyway, but recently I reloaded an earlier save state before storming Denerim, with all my stuff there, but sure enough, once I got to the alienage, it all disappeared again! I thought at first that it was because I summoned the armies to help me out the first time and for whatever reason they stole my stuff, but this second time I solo'd the generals, and it still all disappeared!! Now, my desktop =doesn't= have the patch installed, and it hasn't had any problems with disappearing inventory at the endgame. So my question is, is this an error with the patch, or did it just somehow corrupt my save file? Because I'm super-hesitant now to finish another character on my laptop if all my stuff's going to disappear when I get to the endgame, and I don't want to install the patch on my desktop if it's going to to the same thing (because it SUCKS going against the generals without any healing items/lyrium).
Thanks!!
