steam wont accept the game cd key i have, is that becourse i have bougt it in a store and not on steam??

i allready did register on ea and bio but steam says that the key is not valid ???

I'm trying to register the game online but when I type in the CD key that came with my Steam digital download, it says that the key is invalid.

Having an unusual problem, one I've not seen anyone say anything about that sound like exactly what my problem is. I'm running the PC version, on a PC with Windows XP SP3, Intel Core2Duo @ 2.83GHz, with an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT with 512 VRAM. I've only got 2 GB of RAM, but it should still run fine. Latest DirectX version.



The problem I'm having is with starting a new game. I load the game just fine, get into character creator just fine, and all of the sliders and bells and whistles work fine to create the character...but when I click "PLAY" and the loading screen gets done, I see no video. I hear the sounds of the game starting, but I'm staring at a black screen. I can hear the game working (i.e. when I hit the "ESC" key, I can move my mouse and hear the options click.) and I can see my mouse cursor, but none of the rest of my graphics are displaying.



Any thoughts?

Well...we're getting somewhere, but it seems to be more of a sideways step than a step forward. After hitting F5 (quick save) in the blackness, and exiting the game the hard way (Alt+F4), reloading the game, and loading the quick save, I can now see the game, but I get no dialogue when I right click to talk to a character. No sounds. I have background sounds, but no voice dialogue.



Oh, EA, what have you done to my beloved Bioware?!?

i just updated the game but when i click play in wont play it wont go into the game can anyone help

I had all kinds of trouble with the games installer (just like with Mass Effect) cutting out early on and then much later into the process. I ended up using winrar and unpacking the games files manually but I got a couple of error messages stating corrupt files. I was really surprised when I got the game to run but now key characters are missing textures on their uniforms. How can I fix this pls?

Man do i have a problem, i think I'v seen some others with it too, i manage to get a bit through the character creation, then my system starts Buzzing rather violently, and actually i traced the noise to the PSU which bewildered me. Anyway its buzzes, skips a bit then i get a blue screen with an error - i don't get long to read it but I'm pretty sure its a memory leak, or a buffer overflow - then it reboots and stops buzzing once XP is up again.



Please let there be a patch for this.



I'm also running SP.3 (others with posts like mine i think have also had this) and more than meet the system requirements, my only part of interest would be my 8800GT graphics card, which is being swapped for a 5850 in a week, but thats pointless if the game just crashes.



Blue Screen Bioware, not cool. Especially when we pre-oder collector edition games to be inundated with errors.

Looks like there are alot of problems. and here is mine. i got dragon age happy as can be and played it on my laptop that i spent over 3000 cold hard cash to get it running better than most desktops. Now i put in dragon age installed bought all the DLC and played it with the best graphics. it worked wonderfully but i wasn't even 10 min. in till it started lagging horribly. i saved exited and started dragon age up again with a cold feeling in my heart. when it started it was still lagging, at the MAIN FRICKIN SCREEN. so i turned off my entire laptob and started the game again. it worked, then before i hit the 10 min. point lag AGAIN. i turned it to a lower graphic setting it was fine for a few seconds then lag. lower setting. same thing. until i was at the most horrid graphic setting EVER. i felt my eyes bleed. so i did what anybody else would. i freaked. it didn't occur to me it was the games fault and i took my lovely computer who hasn't failed me till that fateful day to pc laptops praying they would find out whats wrong. they assured me that my laptop was the best damn thing they could build and said that my problems shouldn't be there. they have the game and my laptop. now WTF is wrong and can this patch fix it?

 Just notifying you guys of a few bugs I encountered (Spoilers):

• At Ostagar before Korcari Wilds, if you go to where the soldiers are examining the genlock corpse and then go to the far left area that looks out into the mountains, you can fall through one point of the wall at the end and be stuck in a little tower area.
• When you get to your companions in the fade, after battling the demon who traps them, I had to wait an incredibly long time for my companion to trigger a response, and if I clicked to talk on them, the scene would start from the beginning. This actually happened for a few other encounters, as well, and I would have to run around and wait for the companion to realise that I had finished the quest
• The infected and rambling soldier at Ostagar is sometimes seen standing up on his bed and not in the lying down animation.
• There are quite a few voice bugs, especially with banter if the camera or PC is in a specific place, and causes the banter to be inaudible
• I had a quest to help Prince Bhelen in Orzammar, but ended up making Harrowmont king. The quest is still in my journal after I killed Prince Bhelen.

This game does seem unusually buggy. I get random crashes, and for some reason, the game minimises to the desktop a lot. Sure it's not quite as buggy as NWN 2 was, or anything else made by Obsidian, but it's getting there.

Also, what's up with all the dudes plastered in blood? Surely they would have cleaned it off themselves after combat?

@rykn: I have a 260 GTX and an i7 920. Not the best hardware in the world, but decent stuff. Let me be the first to tell you that the game isn't always buttery smooth. I recommend turning down AA to 2x or 4x, or off completely if your resolution is higher than 1680x1050. AA is one of the most taxing things for you computer, and it's redundant if you have a high resolution display.

Same problem here, but without the bluescreen, it just shuts down and restarts. I first tougth it was my UPS, on wich the overload lamp was turned on before the computer was shut down, unfortunately that wasn´t the problem..

You guys with lagging problems concider yourself lucky. I am yet to have seen more then the launch menu cause when I click Play (updated or not updated) I just get a big fat screen saying "Error - could not connect to EA Core"

sent them a email concerning why my memory band will only show up for when im connected the the 360 dragonage server and not when im just playing offline. this glitch has completely ruined my memory seeing as anythime I have to use a computer and want to play at my house I cant continue my quests which ive spent much time on. This is bull**** I havent gotten a reply and its been marked unresolved on my dragonage email
