You are below the minimum, but your symptoms are from something else, if the card is still functional. 

When it has worked before, and isn't still overheating (very likely why it's doing badly now) any more, there are three areas to look at, in order of the likely fix first.  Start with video drivers, move on to a reinstall of Dx9, and then, third, if it's still broken, go on to reinstalling the game. 

But meanwjhile, start shopping for a mainline gaming laptop (they have video cards with the "n600", "n650", "n670" numbers in their names).

(P. S. added in edit 2-24-2011 -- occasionally, this error message is triggered from mixing up screen ratio settings between wide screen and standard 4:3 ratios.  Be sure you are starting out from a resolution that matches your display's ratio.)

9400m? Sounds like a laptop gfx card, doubt he can replace it.
DA runs on my laptop, but it only has Intel GMA X4500, heh.

On to my question, is there any news on RtO? It does not show up in my available content (yet I hope.)
At first I thought it was just my horrid internet connection because most times when I get on DA, I get an error about timing out while connecting to profile storage, or something along those lines, so I have tried on my laptop (the desktop is too heavy to heft around!) elsewhere today to no avail.

Sragar, When you see Denerim City on the map, click on the map icon at the bottom of map, that will take you up a level to the whole wide world map.

 i wonder if anyone can help me, i have recently bought a new laptop, and have bought the dragon age origins cd. i have had to install graphics drivers online because cd driver wouldn't install on my windows 7, for some reason, don't know if this has anything to do with it but yeah..

my problem is, it all installed fine, but when it comes to pressing the play button i get a message saying,

The program can't start because fmod_event.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

it doesn't fix it.

what on earth is fmod_event.dll, and how can i get it?

Any further similar error message, and it's the message itself that's wrong, for some other reason, so:

Sorry, but the best information I have is that Intel still doesn't know how to design a 3D video part, nor a 3D video driver. You need a better laptop.

No one here is going to equate you as a person with the hardware you try to use; when I write that Intel is a terrible source for anything related to 3D, it's not your fault, it's their disinterest. Similarly, "newness" has never meant anything at all, but that doesn't make you personally a bad person.

Too many new people want to tie their emotions onto a mechanical device for some reason, and get their feelings hurt when someone such as myself uses a word like "JUNK" when I describe anything that Intel has ever done with video. (My most common epithet for Intel's terrible video is "CRAP".)

However, from a game-playing point of view, that's all Intel makes.

Hello, I need some help about system requirement.

My computer is pretty old already and my video card does not meet the minimum requirement. It will be great if I can just upgrade my video card without buying a new computer. Here are some details of my desktop.



Processor: Intel® Pentium® D CPU 3.00GHz

Video card: RADEON X600 256MB HyperMemory

2.00GB of RAM

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (5.1.2600)



I want to know whether I can play DAO with a Pentium D processor. If so, how do I know what video card my mother board can support (so I can buy a better one). If you need to know more detail about my system, feel free to ask me so I can help you help me. Thanks in advance.

Technically, the Pentium P4, every model, is below the minimum.  Practically speaking, the margin isn't a large one, and there are still so very many old P4 systems around that many members here have been using them.  The P4D isn't really a great CPU when it comes to dual core architectures, but it is somewhat better than the single core P4 (my opinion). 

You can upgrade to a current Mainline video card (I would not suggest going far beyond that because of both your power supply and the limits / brakes that come from a slow CPU), for between $50 and $100, depending on where you want to go with your system, but from a value perspective, I really think you should lowball it now, and save your money to replace almost everything soon. 

The cheapest thing that is also good, right now, is the Radeon HD 4650, and while it might fall short of the very high valued frames per dollar ratio that its faster brother offers (4670), it will be fine for the next six-eight months, while you save for a new mainboard and new CPU.

i seem to have a problem with purchasing the bioware points for dragon age. Every time i fill out the billing information with a credit card(ive used several) it tells me the credit card could not be verified. After checking with the bank about the cards, they said the cards were perfectly fine, and now quite frustrated i dont know what to do
