Whenever Morrigan casts Winter's Grasp, the game instantly crashes to desktop. It's pretty frustrating because I first played this game with tons of mods on XP, but recently wiped my hard drive for a fresh Vista 64-bit install, and I've had tons of crashes with the game without any mods at all. I've solved every one, except for the Winter's Grasp glitch.

Re-installed my video card drivers and the game itself. Nothing. Really don't know what to do about this.

EDIT: I should add that I have an Nvidia 8800 GTS.

You know, I never had a crash until I installed the latest Nvidia drivers and I had my first crash last night. Before that I was using the 195.62 drivers, maybe I'll go back if I get more crashes.

During battles, whenever I attempt to select a charater that is in my party that isn't my charater, the poisonmaking menu pops up and comes back every time I try to close it.  This is making fights dificult and I don't know what I am supposed to do to fix this issue.

Ok, this is really gay....I purchased the bonus content myself and for some dumb reason it keeps telling me that my stuff isn't legit.....anyone know what the deal is here?  I paid too much money to be stuck in Iraq getting some stupid message like this saying that what I paid for ain't legit....when I purchased it FROM THEM!

i have installed dragon age before on the same computer, but the other day it kept crashing and messing up so i reinstalled windows and when i came to installing dragon age it cant install fully i keep getting this messge (from log)

Exactly as shown on the game box's System Requirements label, a Mainline Gaming video card is required. Onboard video chips are not supported, sorry. The majority of the eMachines desktop systems have an empty video add-in slot for the needed discrete card.

is the lag i'm experiencing due to the chipset or the low amount of memory or both? Would going from 1gb to 3gb improve the performance or would the inadequate video card make the upgrade in memory a waste of money/time?

Could someone please explain how I'm supposed to play the game when even the config. util. won't run? I've contacted EA and other than requesting my DXdiag. I've had no reply. Maybe Bioware should take over the support role, as EA can't be all that bothered.

One thing people might want to try if they are having crashing problems with Nvidia hardware, is to uninstall the stereoscopic 3D driver that is installed when you install the nvidia drivers. I have done this in the past and it seems to work, and I've heard about various problems when this is installed.

I am having a spot of trouble running DA: O. When I click on the play button, the screen goes black and the mouse pointer turns into the 'loading' icon that Vista uses (the blue circle). With enough alt tab-ing (though I'm not sure it helps) I can get the game to start (some ten minutes later), and it runs fine. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I entered my two codes ( which were on the game) And nothing appear in the game on in the "doawnloadable content" part. What's wrong ?

EDIT : When I go on the downloadable content ( on the main menu of the game ) My Armor and the stone prisoner ( which were avaiable erlier ) now Prisonner - Not allowed  Dragon armor - Not allowed, what the fu**

I have been having problems from day one with the game crashing whenever when i try and go back into the game after alt tabbing out I have also now started having crashes every 15 mins or so after installing patch 1.02a.  I have asked multiple times to many different forums with no responses any help would be greatly appreciated.

all drivers and DirectX 11 (SDK) are updated.

It ran smooth as silk before I patched it and now it has boxes around runed weapons and crashes like crazy.

Games like Dragon Age do not handle being mininmized willy-nilly.  You must put the game in neutral first, by bringing up the menu for saves, waiting for that to load, and then minimizing.  The graphics anomalies sound like they may be caused by corrupted driver files.  Try different driver versions from what you are using now.

Make sure the Dragon Age Orings Content Updater is starting when you start the game.  Without it the game cannot connect to the server to verify that you own the content.  Try manually starting it before you launch to game and see if that resolves your issues:

1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START

There is a beta fix available which may help resolve issues with it starting automatically.
