I have seen this asked a few times but it never seemed to get a response:



My issue is that it seems that the Awakenings disc, not to mention my computer in general, no longer recognises Dragon Age: Origins as being installed on the computer. Attempting to install Awakenings results in an automatic "install DA:O" prompt that closes the installer. This is also repeated when attempting a manual installation of the 1.03 patch and also when trying to run the DAU Service Diagnostic program.



Attempting to uninstall DA:O, and also the DA:O Character Creator also results in similar messages (i.e. the program not being found on the computer). This occurs irrespective of whether I attempt to use the DA:O launcher, or directly via Control Panel.



It goes without saying that DA:O is certainly installed on my machine, and it functions fine (using the launcher when the DA:O disc is in the drive, the game loads smoothly, including all DLC). It was installed into the default directory (Program Files x86). This was not a problem when updating the 1.02 patch.



I use:

Vista 64 bit

8gm RAM

Intel Q9550 2.83ghz

ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2



I do note that I recently downloaded and installed Service Pack 2 for Vista, although given I've not played DA:O for quite some time (was busy and waiting for Awakening) it's impossible to tell if this is a recent development.

Way off-topic for this forum, and should be somewhere in a spoiler forum, but anyway -- when you left the inn there should have been cultists standing around trying to attack you.  Try going back to the lakeshore near the inn and wandering around.  Also try going back to Weylon's and looking again, as sometimes objects take a while to spawn (although I've not seen these issues in 5 complete playthroughs).  Good luck.

Hi i have problems with sound in Box version DA:Origins 1.03

Running X-Fi Fatality Titanium 5.1 Gaming mode. Windows 7 x64 Newest drivers

Every time I cast inferno spell i can only hear sound of firestorm for a few seconds and then it cuts off. after that enviromental sound seems much more poor and i gotta restart the game. Pretty annoying Same problem with storm sound (waether)

Don't forget that this is UNofficial here.  Just like the original message told you, all OFFICIAL support is elsewhere. 

There apparently isn't an in-between for your problem.  Had it been fixed, someone would eventually have volunteered that they had been through the symptoms and what they did to get past them.

I've been playing Dragon Age for a while now (and yes, it runs smoothly), and while all this time, after many hours of gameplay, the game sometimes crashed, or speed would go down considerably, it really didn't bother me enough to be an issue.



Now the game crashes happen increasingly often. Any thoughts?

I saved all Dragonage files I had on another drive and now that I have installed dragonage and put the saved games files where they belong I can see the saved games when I'm in the game but I can't load because I need the expansions I had installed on my "previous" computer (before I installed Windows 7 that is) any ideas? Coz I don't wanna have to buy the expansions when I already have them... The expansions were Shale, and Blood Dragon Armor.

You don't need to rebuy them, they are associated with your account, and are supposed to redownload when you log into your account on the new computer.  Make sure the "Download Previously Purchased Content" is on under Options:Online.   If they don't automatically download see the Redeemed DLC Troubleshooting FAQ

You could always try to reinstall your DA:O and try after that or then try to run installation as an admistrator.
Dunno that does those help, but i cant think any other way, good luck. Hopefully you get it working.

Have you installed the 1.03 patch, cos if you have it's because of that. Reinstall and patch to 1.02a and it should work smoothly. And there's sadly no info yet that when they are gonna fix this prob with 1.03 patch. All i know that it has made about 90 procent of players games unplayable, cos of those crashes...

I assume you did a fresh install to windows 7 hence why you moved your dragon age folder to a external hard drive.  the simplest solution to fixing your dlc error is to just simply re download it.  to be honest the time it took to copy over and copy back your dragon age folder it might have been simpler to just have saved the save files re installed dragon age patch it download the content and reload your saves less of a headache

got too the end battle but no badies to fight just empty apart from me and my group, also in cut scenes my caracter is invisable when the camera goes to it???? whats the problem ive installed the latest patch and started a new game but it still does it!! can someone help! or am i just another EA Sucker!!!

Look on the left side, there should be two items "Upload Gameplay Feedback" and "Download Previously Purchased Content"

As long as they are listed on the Registered Game Promotions page, you "own" them, they are associated with your account, and there is no need to rebuy them .  There is no download link on that page, because Dragon Age uses an automatic download system.

Make sure that the Dragon Age Origins Content Update service is working properly.  Give it a manual kickstart before you start the game:
1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START

If it fails to start I've got some tips on getting it working in Section 5 of the DLC In-Game Errors FAQ.  The topic heading is about Unauthorized content, that's just a different symptom of the same problem.

And as I said earlier take a look at the Redeemed DLC Troubleshooting FAQ.  It has solutions to some of the most common problems getting DLC to download.

Anyway from the little reading I have done here I guess I am screwed as I have DAO on steam so I dont see anyway I can unpatch. The game just crashes anytime I try and launch it.

Aah - by reading the first post in the thread I see its actually somewhere else.  Yet when you click the support link from the game start menu it sends you here to the unofficial support.

I've just installed and started Dragonage and have hit a game killing bug almost immediately.

Dwarf, commoner, warrior.

Escaping Beraht's dungeon, the first room with guards in it, the moment I enter it the game goes to the poison crafting screen and I can't escape out of it.

I'm technically illiterate, so if you can help, please use very small words and assume I know nothing about the inside of the computer (Windows 7).

Please tell Ricky at EA, (whoever he is) that he realy should not tell people that the game was not tested, nor was it written for windows 7 WHEN it CLEARLY says so on THE BOX!!!!. whats the point of the official help link you posted , when that is the response I get from EA and it takes 2 weeks to get it. I have been a Bioware fan for years but this expansion nonsense is testing my metal, and its so unlike Bioware. the game worked until the expansion, now it crshes all the time, is there ever going to be a fix
