Hey Bioware, can we get someone to take a look and make some posts over at the PS3 tech help forums please? Feel like you guys have totally abandoned us over here.

It's the same way here, user to user.

Turn "Mouse Trails" off, certainly, also be sure that no Win 7 Themes are animating the cursor in any fashion, and if so, then choose a different theme.

No one can offer any useful comments as long as you choose to avoid the usual routine (but please do so in a separate message all your own).  Here you go.

I really wish that DA: O had the same "reminder" type sticky at the top that ME2 has.  (There are way too many that should mostly be consolidated, and add this missing one.   It's the third sticky from the top in that(or this) forum that covers what is needed, and the part telling the noobs what data we need from them starts this way:

(Chris Priestley's Fill in the blanks instructions -- you may ignore the question about what game is involved, however):

"If you don’t find a similar problem already reported, consider starting a new thread. Note that most of this information can be obtained by using the game’s Configuration Utility, which is available by pressing the [Configure] button from the game’s launcher:"

Let's pretend he wrote that for, and also stickied it, in both places, shall we?  There's no need to ask which game you are describing a problem for, in the DA Forum, and now that ME-1 is removed from the ME-2 Tech Discussions Forum, Chris could edit his post to remove his first question anyway.

It's possible, however, that you may prefer this other fill in the blanks format, instead:

Bioware claims that there is only a standard CD-check routine, but I believe that there are some anti-copying tracks on the disk as well that cause troubles with certain drives.  You can try getting updates to the firmware, or if you have more than one PC, perhaps you can swap DVD drives around.

1.03 is broken. If you want to play the game, reinstall and only update to 1.02a. Bioware has not offered a fix as of yet, nor have they announced plans for one. They are likely still gathering data, identifying bugs and fixing them. Some have posted that they have not encountered any significant problems with 1.03, but those that do often find the game unplayable due to crashes or other issues.

Yus, 1.03 has made DA:O unplayable for me. It was fine yesterday, today I'm crashing every 60 seconds to 10 minutes.

My Dragon Age: Origins Collector's Edition won't even install on my PC. Specs: Windows Vista, (yeah, I know..), 64 bits!! Corei7 920, Radeon HD 4870. DDR3-ram.

When the installation is almost complete, it stops. "Installation Failed. The installation of Dragon Age Origins: has failed. Unable to find a data file, or disc has been removed."

I have tried with two different original copies of the game.

Anyone know what to do?

I have seen this asked a few times but it never seemed to get a response:

My issue is that it seems that the Awakenings disc, not to mention my computer in general, no longer recognises Dragon Age: Origins as being installed on the computer. Attempting to install Awakenings results in an automatic "install DA:O" prompt that closes the installer. This is also repeated when attempting a manual installation of the 1.03 patch and also when trying to run the DAU Service Diagnostic program.

Attempting to uninstall DA:O, and also the DA:O Character Creator also results in similar messages (i.e. the program not being found on the computer). This occurs irrespective of whether I attempt to use the DA:O launcher, or directly via Control Panel.

It goes without saying that DA:O is certainly installed on my machine, and it functions fine (using the launcher when the DA:O disc is in the drive, the game loads smoothly, including all DLC). It was installed into the default directory (Program Files x86). This was not a problem when updating the 1.02 patch.

I use:
Vista 64 bit
8gm RAM
Intel Q9550 2.83ghz
ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2

I do note that I recently downloaded and installed Service Pack 2 for Vista, although given I've not played DA:O for quite some time (was busy and waiting for Awakening) it's impossible to tell if this is a recent development.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Same problem here, and hours of googling have done naught. I can't even install any patches. What bugs me about this is that I've spent money on Awakening and return to Ostagar, and I can't play them.

Does ANYONE have any help? And yes, I've tried to uninstall and reinstall. Last night I even asked my cat what to do.

Hi.

I've readed lot's of post saying that there's a bug in the patch 1.03 that's necesary for DAO: Awakening. I'm thinking of buying this expansion but the fear of having a workless game stops me. Do you know if this bug issue depends on specific hardware or software configuration or if only affects "pirate" copies???

Thanks in advance.

It definitely does not affect only pirate copies - else there wouldn't be so many registered users and owners of DA on this forum complaining. And no, the problems are to date not linked to specific hardware or software configurations, except maybe a tendency to AMD-CPUs - but that's just my personal impression.

I bought the DVD versions Origens Collectors Edition and Awakening. However I never installed from the DVD's. I used EA download manager to download the digital release and instaled that insted. My game is patched to 1.03 and running all dlc's and some mods. I have no mayor problems running origens or awakening. I use windows 7/ 64 bits on intel cpu. Maybe an idea for dvd users to switch to the digital version witch you can do for free thru the EA download manager if huge downloads are not a problem.

Hi guys!

I just bought my DAO: Awekening copy, from EA Store, but I can't install It. Does anybody know how to solve it? It spends a lot of time working on the patch 1.03, and than, it says that the installation has failed. I updated my DAO, and I think that it was with this 1.03 patch. Do I have to unistall it, and than try again?
