Windows 7 64 bit is going to give you some problems maybe (some peole it does, some doesn't), the game doesn't officialy support 64 bit... rip off I know since it doesn't say it just says windows 7.

Besides that as Gorath, said 1.03 is horrible.  You could uninstall if you can figure that out, you seem to be having issues.. add/remove programs may work if you can't highlight it?
(With steam it's either 1.03 or 1.00)
To get 1.00
Reinstall and cancel update/(or disconnect I guess), and right click dao>propeties>updates> do not auto-update.

This game is great, but with patch 1.03...not.

Beyond the famous stealing, dogs and healing bugs with patch 1.03, I have also a crash problem.

My game sometimes crash without reasons. It's rarely but annoying when happen.

I need help, my camera view is stuck in aerial and i cannot zoom in to view my character in a third person view. When i scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in there is no effect. Is there a button which locks the camera in aerial view? any help would be appreciated.

I know there are 70 pages talking about the same but.. how can i start the game with patch 1.3? As all of you know, the game says that it cant find the game dvd. So, is there a solution? or do it have to install patch 1.2? Thanks

@Ryo - The only reason to install 1.02 patch is if you don't want 1.03 and don't need to play Awakening or use the Feastday (April Fools') DLC. 1.03 includes all the patch items that are in 1.02.



It's really not obvious what you mean by "how do I start the game with patch 1.3 [sic] As all of you know..." -- for example I play on PC and I've not seen the error with being unable to find the DVD...but I think there's a separate discussion thread in this forum that has relevant info for you...

In the quest "Rescue the Queen" in Deneriem, Arl Howe isn't appearing in the dungeon for me.  His guards are in the room where he should be, however.  When my party enters the room, I can't interact with them through dialog nor will they attack me.  All other guards in the dungeon have attacked me, just not the ones in that last room where Howe should be in.  Since the quest is dependant on me killing Arl Howe, it's a total game stopper. 

Here's the things I tried to do to fix the problem:

• Restart my computer 
• Leaving the dungeon and returning
• Leaving the entire estate and returning to the dungeon
• Loading earlier saves

Arl Howe was still missing despite these attempts.  No mods are installed and I have the most recent patch.

This may have been posted before, but this thread is 71 pages longs...

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit I bought the steam version of the game, which auto-patched to 1.03 which I could not prevent. The game's launcher works fine, but the game itself crashes before anything even appears. No window appears for it, and going into task manager indicates the process is no longer even running.

EDIT: found a workaround by launching the game using the command line.

Hey guys, I just started replaying DA:O after buying awakenings. This is the first time with 1.03 and I'm experiencing a lot of the problems mentioned here. Is there any word out yet from Bio for 1.04?

 Well, I have a big prbolem here...
I brought the game like a week and a half ago (I think), and played alot, but now I enter the game (yesterday it was fine!) and all my save games are gone!! I worked really hard for them and now I cant load them like they never exicted! also to mention, the game loaded and configured itself like it was the first time I played! Its like that the game has been uninstalled and reinstalled, but it didnt, I just played it yesterday and all of the sudden it did a new game!
I didnt thouch it since I last played it, so I dont think I triggered anythings, please help

Hey guys, have a question, i bought the game for pc a couple days ago but everytime i get past character creation and it puts me into the game. My cpu usage goes up to 100% and it is so laggy i can't move. I tried cleaning out my case and updated my drivers. also i tried running it on lowest settings but it still didnt work. i have installed patch 1.03 as well.



pc specs: intel 945p chipset, intel core 2 duo(dual core) processor, Nvidia geforce 6800(i know its bad but i've played swg and wow and numerous other games without problems plus it should work based on the system req. for the game), 4gb RAM. i've never had trouble running a game before and based on my specs it should work. any help would be greatly appreciated i really want to play this game

There were literally a half dozen varieties of the Geforce 6800, three of which cannot handle modern games well.  The 6800 XT is the worst garbage, since it is slower than a 6600 GT (and yet it had a higher cost).  The 6800 LE is nearly that bad, as well.  The 6800 Vanilla varied in its level of usefulness depending upon whether it was AGP or PCIe, and I no longer recall which of the two was decent, and which was not particularly so.  All of them are now approaching six yearts old, and are seriously out of date (they do not have effective shader functionality, and thus don't work well in Dx9's SM3 game environment).

You can purchase the modern day equivalent level video card for about $40 if you are stateside, in USD, from many online retailers, which should help tell you how low that 6800 has sunk.  For only $75, you can have something three times faster than the 6800 cards were -- again, that is stateside, in USD, from a decent online retailer.

This is a PC forum, not a console forum, so answers aren't so very simple.  We need much more system information here.

Note: you will eventually need to uninstall to get rid of patch 1.03, which was just no good at all, and should never have been released.  Then, only reinstall patch 1.02, and wait on a proper patch to go on with Awakening, other than the currently terrible one.

I had the problem of my saves being gone and I was really disgusted because I was far along in the game. I had quite a lot of saves, and the newest one wasn't on the top, so I scrolled down through them all,(in the game), and found my newest saves at the bottom of the list. I guess after you get a lot of saves the game starts putting them on the bottom. Maybe this isn't what happened to you, but it can't hurt to check.

When the "Stone prisoner" said "Unathourized" I followed the steps on the Help site, i deleted the files, when i where at the "delete DAUpdater" step, I didnt find any folder with that name so I thought that the DAUpdater.xml was the file that i should delete, I deleted the file and now i cant even see the "Stone prisoner" or use the DAUpdater, plz help! Is there any way to download the DAUpdater.xml without reinstall the game? Thanks for help
