I am currently at the end of the game, running the Unrest in the Alienage quest. For some reason, my tactics no longer work in my party. At all. Nobody does anything. I can't pin down exactly when things stopped working as I was running around town for quite a bit, but I didn't add or remove any mods, or even change any tactics. I did re-spec the main character but that's it. The weird thing is that any previous saves I load (including from 20+ hours ago) don't work either. I also tried re-installing everything and playing with no mods to no avail. If I randomly spam hold position/select all, Alistair will sometimes follow his tactics but that's it. The only thing that really works is making a new character, which tactics work fine on. So I'm thinking somehow my character is corrupted. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm 45+ hours into the game and I've never beaten it, so really want to see it through. Thank you so much for any help.

Selecting a character suspends his/her tactics; similarly selecting all suspends everybody's tactics and it remains so until they are deselected. Also, when a character is holding position and the target is out of range, tactics won't fire.
This might be the spamming hold position/select all thing you are talking about.

Check here. Have you, perhaps, inadvertently told the characters to hold in place?

I agree with mouse....I have done this before, without realizing I left it toggled to "hold position". Also, recheck tactics to make sure they are still listed for all characters.
I also found that if I had, say Leliana (or anyone for that matter) use POISON in her list of tactics, she would use it, then just stand there forever until I made her do something else. And when a warrior uses threaten/taunt, they just stand there for a while. LOL

Thanks for the replies, guys. I guess I should have provided more information in the original post. I understand how tactics work and saw the other post with a similar issue (maybe should have replied there instead). I have Advanced Tactics installed which allows the controlled party member's tactics to be used, so it's not an issue of simply having everyone selected.

One thing I tried now was using the preset tactics configs (Scrapper, Defender, etc) and this only fixed the issue with Alistair and Sten. The PC and Morrigan still just stand there like bumps on a log. Even putting them on Aggressive does nothing. The most they'll do is attack if attacked.

The re-spec I did was a simple one I've done before. I re-allocated stats and put all the skills/feats the same. It's never been an issue previously but it's the only thing I can think of that may have triggered it because I haven't added any mods since I started the character.

I ran into a similar issue during the shade ambush on the camp. All of my allies just stood there and let the shades pound on them, but my PC still used her tactics. I eventually had to use a console command to kill everything and it's all worked fine since then until now.

Like I said, every single save for this character now has the same issue. I have kept many throughout the campaign and the tactics don't work on any of them. It seems my character was somehow corrupted and I was hoping maybe this an issue that's happened to someone else before.

Hmm, then may be it's corrupted or something. Have you tried adding an extra attack tactic, something like 'enemy -> nearest visible -> attack'? If it works, then may be you can get by for this playthrough.

Whew! Finally got it. Advanced Tactics was the culprit. I removed all my tactics, THEN uninstalled it and now it's working fine. Just wanted to put the solution up for anyone else whoever encounters this problem. Thanks guys!
