First time playing this DLC! Okay, so I got through the rooms with the revenant and four/five arcane horrors, and the room with four golems, and some other really tough boss room, and obviously I was like 'oh shi-' because they were the most challenging boss battles I had ever encountered in Dragon Age: Origins. I mean, in each of these rooms, I'd be left with one last party member standing, drinking health poulstice after health poulstice, just to finish off the last straggling opponent. BY A HAIR.

Finally, I came to the room with FOUR *red-titled* boss Enraged Golems and two Elite Golems, and discovered that this was truly impossible. No matter what I did - I even realized that the golems stayed in the last positions you left them after deactivating and then activating the switch again (because you have to re-activate the switch to get out of the room) and thought I could 'gas chamber' them in the hallway or corner with all the grenades and rock-hurls I could muster. But this didn't work because the party members would re-spawn in the middle of the room, foiling the lure for the golems in each wave.

Sooo I looked around this forum and saw that level 21 seems 'too low' to beat this DLC, and I looked at my character stats and indeed they're only level 21! Apparently it helps to finish Awakening before taking on this DLC.

I know, I know, some hardcore gamers are probably clever and awesome enough to beat this room with level 21, but I just don't see how, at all. :pinched:

I think the player is supposed to take out those golems one or two at a time, deactivating the switch and healing up as required. It's easy that way.

I have done a clean sweep of the battle without switching, as a DW warrior, but that was at level 35 and with some careful positioning before hitting the switch. I'm quite sure doing that at level 21 would be next to impossible for me.

Actually all the golems' health bars would completely reset and replenish each time I hit the switch. lol

That it does. You'd want to knock one out completely before hitting the switch. The dead ones won't respawn. May be go for the two elites first, then the boss level golems.

Ooohhh.  In that case I think I'll try again

I may not be recognizing which battle is being described (especially since I don't recall using a switch during any of it), but I think I only beat this by sending my rogue character out of the room and sacrificing everyone else in a suicide run directly into all the golems. After everyone else was dead and my rogue in stealth, the golems lost count and returned to their original positions, so she then just lured them out of the room in 1s and 2s... and used lots of healing poultices...

IIRC I kept trying to send everyone down the stairs with the tank at the top so as to fight them 1-by-1 as they got to the door, but each time the battle started everyone acted like Keystone Cops and wouldn't coordinate for the strategic retreat down the stairs before those devastating golem rock blasts started. My character was Lvl 35 though as well... Not sure how I'll manage this with a warrior or mage...

Okay, did Awakening, got to Amgarrak at level 32.

Got all the way to the Harvester. And I'm stopping at Harvester. Like... I think I should have equipped my characters with more ranged weapons. No way to win.

Handy tip: during the first phase, keep your golem out of range of the Harvester but with Cleansing Aura active. Have him flick the switch when any Elite or Boss skeletons show up to kill them.

During the second phase, just focus on the Harvester. The corpses die when he goes down.

You might want to try this thread that's all about the Harvester fight (or primarily)- lots of experience on there. I only recently beat it (once, but decisively) on Nightmare with inadequate equipment, but prepare for a 30-60 min fight... It's the tactical mammoth fight of all DAO... Archery was key to my own victory, but it's not the only thing. You need to be able to Taunt away those boss skeletons while you're pelting the Harvester- and the fast rhino is the best one for that. You just need to keep it alive as well. There are plenty of other strategies though, including increasing melee dodge bonuses to 100% (somehow), but the archery + rhinoTaunt was the only way I even got past the first ten minutes.

EDIT:
You might also watch this YouTube vid by someone who beat it with a Level 20 party using the same sort of tactics I did (though he uses melee more than I did). Both of us succeeded due to Stealth. Nothing like putting on Bilbo's magic ring...

If you are a rogue, try using twin strikes + low blow + unending flurry; the whole battle would be over in less than 2 minutes, I promise. I guess it would take even less time if you get Jerrik to do this as well. The technique mentioned by Bhryaen above is also a fun way to do it. The bronto is pretty past and it's fun to move him around with the skeletons on it's tail.

Why dont anyone suggest arcane warrior as the answer ?
judging from my experience from the standard game & other add-on's,
AW is the answer to any difficulties !

I'm actually getting my ass handed to me using an arcane warrior against the Harvester on hard. I respec'd Jerrick to be an archer. I'm fine during the first part of the battle, but once I lose the switch, I go down crazy fast. I tried changing tactics to get everyone to heal below 75%, but that just uses up all of my potions. I've tried using CC tactics like Waking Nightmare and Hand of Winter on all the corpses that show up, but it's inevitably half bosses and they resist. I can't get near the Harvester. Any tips?

Well here's my tip since i also got my arcane spanked,
-----------------------------------------------------
it has everything to do with level !!!!!!!!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------
I made a new AW, and this time around not only i, but also the rest of the gang was lv 34-35,
and he went down on hard in spite of me never being good enuff at games to ever have time
to flip on any switches, let alone timing that

@leborus - As mentioned above, you can try taunting the boss level skeletons with the Bronto, & then moving it around, while the rest of the party takes out the Harvester. The best way of dealing with the second phase is probably to rush it; but if your party set up doesn't allow it, you'll need to keep the heat off for some time, & the bronto is pretty good at this because of it's speed. The rank of the spawned skeletons are somewhat random and at times you may see more boss level skeletons than you'd like; just reload it and try again.

It is a tough fight indeed, I think a 23 Warrior was the lowest level character I beat him with on nightmare.

1st phase I just focus fired on each skeleton as they arrived and attacked the Harvester in between.

2nd phase was where the fight started to become overwhelming to me. So I moved all my characters next to the switch and sort of made a defensive stand near it. Focus firing on the Harvester and hitting the switch everytime the fade currents changed, doing my best to heal up and stay alive.

Okay... this is probably a stupid question, but how do I direct Snug?  When I toggle through my party members, he's not an option to control.

Boo-yah!!!

Nevermind. I got lucky enough not to have too many orange skeletons and got them to attach each other instead of me after 2 more rounds.
