Where are people getting the idea that pre-order armour will be DLC?

Jarret Lee
The armor and weapon will not be released as separate DLC. It's very unique to this edition.

Can you talk about Mass Effect 2's DLC at all?
Casey Hudson: The big thing is that with the first game we just weren't able to add in the extensions to all the different types of assets in time, so we only had one type of expansion we could do which was a big chunk of gameplay. At the same time we were also working on Mass Effect 2, so we were able to do the first one ourselves, and worked with Demiurge Studios to do the second one, but it's very hard to find people that can do content for Mass Effect.
Now we've extended the technology so you can get armor pieces and weapons through DLC packs or big retail size packs and we've got people in place working on that stuff. That's part of why we let you play past the credits which is a big feature we wanted to do in the first game.

Just think about it, Bioware's pumping lots of advertising muscle into these DLC armors. Then after release, after no one can pre order anymore, they say, hey look, this is an awesome Terminus gear set. Just pay 2 dollars!
It's not so hard to see their logic

That article features NEW stuff, not pre-existing.
But I would happy to pay for it... were it avaliable.

DAO did no such thing. Bioware's touting all different sizes of DLC from armors to expansions. DAO never said they would have such micro DLC.

1st...YES they DID say the same of DAO and ARE doing the same.
2nd...you are basing your assumptions on nothing. There will be DLC of all sizes and techincally preorder stuff IS DLC without it ever being made available to those who didn't.
You really have nothing solid to base your assumptions on and no minor preorder bonus has EVER been given as DLC and it won't start now. The fact that not buying two copies will have you miss out on stuff forever is a strong incentive to buy multiple copies and EA won't cheapen that.

Oh Puh -lease. You're basing your assumption off of EA hate.Darth_Trethon wrote...

Besides that, look at the Blackstorm weapon. You don't go through the trouble of making something like that and never include it in the game.

I look at it sort of the same way as the Darth Vader/Yoda situation. Bioware doesn't expect anyone to buy the game twice to get one extra armor (well, a small percentage might) Right now they're just an incentive to buy the game in advance, nice and new.

Not EA hate...just sound economic decissions that create additional profit with minimal effort. That's a fact...I don't hold any sort of grudge here. There is absolutely no precedent for your assumptions at all and nothing in what's been said even remotely implies they'll start now. Plus as I said...they DID say the same of DAO.

Is it? Really? Maybe if you are some sort of lifeless nerd. Who the hell buys two copies of the same game just to have a different set of armour? IT'S JUST AN ITEM.Darth_Trethon wrote...

The game is still complete without all the pre-order bonus crap. It's a nice bonus, that's all it is, a BONUS.

Completely diferent situaton. Those were NOT preorder bonuses available to all but temporary console exclussivities. Those were clear set-ups to have all gamers pay for something that was on the game disc already. You really cannot compare console exclussivities with preorder bonuses.

I can when you get different ones depending on who you buy it from.
Think of it this way - what reason would Bioware have for never releasing the special armors? You can only preorder the game before it comes out. They already made the armors, so it's not like there's any real effort involved with releasing them later on.

Juggernaut for Marvel Ultimate Alliance, a Gamestop pre-order bonus, is now for sale, the Weapon X room for X-Men Origins Wolverine, originally a bonus, now for sell, don't use definitive statements unless you know for 100% sure.
