I used the GPS once, on the AIU. Incendiary 4, damage barrel, shotgun rail amp 3, against gold collectors. Gold. I was shocked by how little damage I was doing, it was ridiculous. That's when I realised the gun absolutely sucks. Unless you charge every single shot, which I'm guessing nobody does, I only charge up my cloaked shots. Even then...I have to say (and this is my opinion), this gun absolutely sucks. Outclassed even by the venom. It makes no sense to use the GPS on a character like the GI. The GI is capable of dealing incredible amounts of damage with the piranha especially. Even the raider. We're talking about a 1000 fold difference in damage here. GPS is great against phantoms, yes. But that's about it. Terrible against armour, since It cannot pierce.

Can you honestly say that a GI piranha with AP 4 is weaker than a GI GPS? I can't see it.

I stopped using the GPS on anything after I found its lock-on ability lacking in most off-host situations.

Where a regular shotgun might work through the lag, the GPS is more likely to shoot blanks or miss all together.

I love the GPS on the GI, was what I used on him for the longest time when I meleed with mine often, but it's not an efficient boss killer at all.

I just feel that it is so much more versatile than the other weapons available. The GPS is not the best weapon out there in terms of damage, but it is more versatile on host comparing to other weapons and thus you can benefit from it more in most situations where other weapons might be lacking. Let's face it, most weapons are good at something but bad at something else (hence the balance of the weapon), but from using all the weapons I feel like the GPS has the least gap between what it is good at and what it is bad at. That in my opinion makes it the best overall weapon when you consider all maps and all enemy factions and their individual enemy types.

Most of us would agree that the GI is the character to go with though. I've heard some people name Drell Adept as a close second, but the general konsensus seem to be that the GI is overall more efficient when it comes to both survivability and damage output. Now, combining the GI with the GPS would be a win-win-win in my eyes. When I discuss this character/weapon combination I take into consideration all different scenarios that can happen during gameplay.

What I said about me doing a solo was just about me doing some more comparisons, nothing more. And I want to know people's opinion about this because I know a lot of people see this combination as subpar. I want to hear suggestions about what would be "better" and then hear a logical explanation to why it would be better. So far everyone is just saying "this is better" but without giving a good explanation to why that would be the case.

The best reason to use GPS on the GI is to screw with your teammates so they think Hunters are behind them.

Max is just being very direct and follows a "no bullsh*t" approach, more people on this forum should do like that instead of just acting nice but then talking sh*t behind peoples backs so to speak.

I like the GI javelin best, for taking out enemies at range, but do have trouble if closely swarmed (e.g. during circle hack objectives). Have to escape the group dropping to get some breathing room.

I must be in a parallel universe.

I play mostly Gold and I seldom see GI's with any weapon. When I do, they tend to do ok but they don't dominate.

Considering they're suposed to be OP, I would think I would see more.

I'm starting to think the GI stories are a myth.

I'm glad someone else likes the set-up. I almost never hear anything about it. It's the first weapon I slapped on him, and the set-up that launched me from Silver to Gold-status.

I miss my Hunter...

I just don't like that you need to be on host for the GPS to work properly, which is why I prefer to use the PPR, talon and black widow.

GPS is still great though

A lot of stuff can 1 shot phantoms.
But a javelin can 4-5 shot platinum atlases/crabs. A piranha can 3 clip a platinum crab..

And what happens if you miss the 1 shot that you have when trying to shoot anything but bosses?

Also, on host Phantoms are not always that easy to 1 shot.

he could do it with a black widow. It deals with everything, including phantoms, considering the stagger from Recon Mine.

I think there are several different weapon that are better on a GI honestly. The GPS will lay the smack down on a phantom's ass though.
