You know guys, this set up works for dumdum. I played three games with him and Hardcoresalmon, and my god he was just....well the vids are on his Channel, you can judge for yourself. I haven't been out scored like - that- since...a long time ago. I may have not been using the best set ups that works for me, however this is the best set up for him. He is a freaking beast with it.

Can't speak for consoles, but on PC there are quite a few setups that would be better. I only skipped through his collector/reactor video for a while, but his DPS wasn't that impressive. Also, using a GI when the other two competent players are not using infiltrators and rocketing all four targets + spawns will inflate your score to that amount. Doesn't mean the setup is godly or anything.

Good gameplay dumdum but it's weird how difficult the audio de-sync issue makes it to watch the video.
Anyway, I believe we can conclusively state that the GI with the GPS is the best combination in the game.......................when dumdum uses it........................and he's hosting.

Now, to lighten the mood a little and just because I can:

Fool your neighbours into thinking you have an expensive gravel driveway by taping rice krispies to your cars tyres.

i agree, however the set up works for him in marvelous ways. I can't emphasize the "him" part enough!  That set up I would do terrible on, but my best set up he might not do the best on.  That's all

i had little problems for the most part of his host ( of course there are always lol lag moments for every off host games...). But the "when dumdum uses it" part is very true.  Also, could fruity pebbles work in the event that Rice Krispies are not available?

Thanks man, but you also know that none of us played serious in those games, we were just having fun and goofing around (which live commentary would have shown!) so no need to sell yourself short like that.

I had a lot of benefits such as being on host and using a GI. But still, this thread was about the GI GPS so maybe it's still valid I don't know

Well, the first match against Cerberus on Ghost had a bigger margin in score and I used 3 rockets in total that match to take care of two Primes and then a few Atlases after wave 10 objective. I know HardcoreSalmon nuked at least two times, one spawn and one time to clear the LZ. I was playing the GI and the other guys were playing Salarian Infiltrator, Geth Infiltrator and Quarian Marksman.

So, what did you mean with your statement now again? The only thing that really made a difference in that match was me using the GPS on the GI and me playing as host.

I know. If I can just figure out what the heck is causing it then I would be really happy. I never used to have problem with that in the past but lately Youtube started de-sync every other video that I uploaded. Until I know how to fix it I recommend watching videos on mute with some music on

It wouldn't be that hard to replicate what he did on PC. I mean, it's a goddamn homing shotgun. But if you have the option of successive Talon/Hurricane headshots, the GPS will seem subpar in comparison.

The question posed at the beginning was whether there a setups that can out-DPS the GPS GI. And yes, there are quite a lot of them.

And those are two of the weapons that I never use because I basically suck with them everytime I try to use them so I never bother learning how to use them effectively.

NO! What the hell, how many times do I need to say in this thread that "top" doesn't automatically mean "outscore" or "out-DPS"? The DPS is not in question here because we all know that there are a lot of weapons with higher DPS.

It should be able to deal with all enemies from all factions when playing on host. It should be good for both close range and long range. It should increase survivability (stagger, wallhax, mobility etc.).

I can explain it further but I think you get the general idea now. I was wondering what character/weapon combination would be more optimal to use if you could play just one character and carry only one weapon. It was never about what class and weapon can deliver the most DPS.

I wanted to hear suggestions to this because I would like to try them out and see if I can make them work too.

What a load of bull. Sorry to break it to you, but this game is pretty much about DPS, especially on platinum difficulty. The faster you kill things wile not getting killed yourself, the more effective you are. You think the GPS is the only gun who can deal with any enemy of any faction? There are a lot of weapons that can deal with enemies more effectively than the GPS. The GPS does a poor job at killing bosses for example. It is a good weapon, but compared to the alternatives it is subpar.

You realize this yourself, of course. That's why you made up your own little definition of "top". But in the end it just makes you look like an idiot.

GPS + Disruptor or Phasic rounds

Proximity mine specced for dmg and extra dmg

Charge GPS → Cloak → Proximity Mine → Fire → repeat

With the GI you can cloak, shoot the mine, and fire in less than 1 second. That combo will kill Marauders, Phantoms, Hunters, and Pyro's at close to medium range. IMO they are the biggest threats to extraction, especially in the later waves when things get a little nuts sometimes. That's when this combo shines and when you realize there is no comparison. I can kill Two Phantoms, the Maruader behind her and two Hunters in seconds at close range. Try that with any other weapon. Plus you just put a 20% dmg bonus on every enemy within 15 ft for 8 seconds and unlike most builds with combos this combo is not dependant on situation, speed, enemy type or anything else to be effective. If all you do the entire match is this combo you will beat the other three people in the lobby quite easily.

Does it take a little extra to kill a Banshee or an Atlas? Of course it does. For this reason I also love the Javelin but the Javelin does not do well at close range, can't kill multiple enemies with one shot unless one is behind the other, and even when reload cancelled it can't take down the non-boss enemies as quickly.

I should also mention that I am not the best at this game by any stretch of the imagination. On a scale of 1-10 I get maybe a 7.5. Despite that once I got this build perfected I started getting first place in almost every match I played regardless of the other players skill and experience. I usually score more points than the 3rd place and fourth place person combined. Who cares right? Oh did I mention that they scored over 200,000 points combined? That's why I don't use this build much anymore. It got to the point that I was averaging over 200,000 points per game even when playing with friends who were rocket spawning later waves. It does get boring being this awesome.


FYI - This is not to brag or to say I know awesome players or anything stupid like that but for comparison sake.  I have four friends in the top 500 for challenge points on the leaderboards that I play with quite often.  One of them is 13th and the other is 20th.  Go ahead and say that means nothing if you want but thats BS and you know it.  I can destroy them with this build.  Im ranked 9739 which isn't anything to be proud of.

Buddy, if you don't care about my reasons with this thread then why do you bother to post at all? Calling me an idiot for asking for alternatives? You can read into it anyway you want, but fact remains that if you are not going to adhere to the purpose of this thread then you can take your comments and opinions elsewhere.

If it's what you're best with, then so be it, but there are PLENTY of other options that, on paper, are better than the GPS.
