Is there any class/weapon combination that can top the GI with the GPS?

Gah, the way you brag about your GPS GI is just terrible.  Do it with some GRANDIOSITY, like disciple.  You look like a two-bit pool hustler.

"You want to shoot some pool with me, man??"  "Don't worry, I'm so average."

If it's what you're best with, then so be it, but there are PLENTY of other options that, on paper, are better than the GPS.

It's like saying a Formula 1 car is better on paper than a bicycle. And yes the car would go a lot faster on a certain track, but what if you would drive on small streets in the middle of the city? Whether something is better or not depends on the situation itself.

For instance, the Javelin is not really as optimal at CQC as the Piranha but it is better than the Piranha at long range.

Talon GI

I haven't tried that ever, but I see what people do with that combo. I prefer claymore on GI, even though it's not optimal.

lol, that actually reminded me of a Swedish friend I had who went to study at college in USA. He was going to shoot some pool with some guys from his class and they asked him if he was good at it, he replied "nah, I'm ok but nothing more". It turned out he was quite good at it and after the first game one of the guys said to him "I hate you Swedish people, because you can never admit being good at something!!!".

So yeah, I'm from Sweden and I'm average B)

Depends on the skill of the user.

Again, if you're best with the GPS, then use it. It's a good combination, and it works well. But on paper, there are better options. A Piranha will have better DPS, for example, and the GPS doesn't outrange it by all that much (Which isn't really a big benefit since you're an Infiltrator and can get in close easily).

It's like how I prefer the Volus VanGOD over the Kroguard. Is the Kroguard better? Absolutely, I won't even try to deny that. But i'm simply better with the VanGOD, and thus do better with him, but i'm fully aware if you get someone equally skilled as I am and give them a Kroguard, they'll do better than me.

Volus Vanguard you say? Never really used him except for once which resulted in some nasty rage rocketing of Primes. How do you use that class in order to be really good with him?

I've got a link in my signature which'll take you to a guide I wrote up about every single Volus kit (And one about the Cabal, since i'm turning it into an actual character guide and not just Volus guide, but ignore that for now).

Yeah so I stand by the hurricane, talon, piranha and javelin topping the GPS then.

And which one of them would be the most optimal to use in your opinion? :)

Talon GI is all around the best. Still capable of 1 shotting enemies, from good distances even.
Hurricane is for people who want to be lazy and not have to aim and still do rediculous damage.
But i prefer the Piranha or Javelin because I like the way they sound. Though on glacier i'd say piranha is the best.

Add being low on shotgun amps and stingy with AP IV and you have me in a nutshell. :P

@dumdum I called you an idiot because your idea of a "top" weapon makes you look stupid. I'm not even going into the fact that most of your posts and threads smell of troll.

Weapons like the Talon, Hurricane, Harrier, PPR, Wraith, Piranha and Claymore allow me to dish out more DPS and kill enemies faster (and that's what this game is mostly about), which makes them top weapons. I have played in quite a few teams with only GIs. I have topped the scoreboard in some and even got completely outclassed in others (Hi Sirian!), but it was always with one of the weapons I mentioned.

Call me a 'know-it-all' as much as you want. In the end, there seem to be a lot more players here who share my opinion than yours. Might be something to think about.

I stopped trolling a long time ago when I found out that some people got offended by it and took it serious.

I made it clear in the OP what I was looking for with this thread, let me quote:

"I recently started using my Geth Infiltrator with the Geth Plasma Shotgun on a regular basis (never played it much before). It deals a ton of damage, it staggers all mooks, it has a decent rate of fire, it has tracking ability on the weapon and a decent clip size, it has wallhax, it has speed and mobility, it has a debuff/stagger power.

You don't ever have to bring a secondary weapon when playing U/U/G or U/U/P and you can easily clutch every wave with it."

As you can see I gave an explanation as to why I believe this to be the top kit. Everyone else in this thread keeps suggesting weapons and "explaining" it with DPS. I would like to know more in depth why the suggested character/weapon combination would be prefered over the GI GPS on host. To just say DPS is not enough in my opinion.

And no matter what the reason is, there is never any need to call people names buddy.

Didn't Ashen Earth used to play with the GI GPS like all the time in the past? Wasn't he one of the best players out there when playing with that kit?

His kit was the PPR GI, he stopped using it though, from what i've heard.

Edit - but there is a lot of other things that can outscore a GI with GPS.

Why does everyone keep thinking that "top" means "outscore"?

I've explained in this thread that it is not only about the score you get in a match, it is about the highs and the lows of the character/weapon combination and how the gap between its highs and lows are less than with basically any other kit. It is more versatile and can handle a lot more situations.

Because TL;DR. :kissing: No, but few would define low-risk-high-revward-build as top, as most of them are borring. But topping you also have writen about a few times, so you have to understand the peoples confussion.

But it is. It all comes down to DPS and killing things as fast as possible. It makes a difference when someone can take out two atlas mechs in the time it takes you to kill one. You have to take into account that pc players have better controls and thus better aim, so a homing shotgun pales in comparison to getting successive headshots with a Talon/Hurricane/Wraith. Also you can't fully use your wallhax because your GPS can't shoot through walls.

That was uncalled for buddy.

Why get so hostile? Does it make you feel better with yourself trying to be a badass on the Internet? Seriously though, stop posting here because all you're trying to do is to stir sh*t up and I don't appreciate it.

Now, go and do some push ups and some crunches next to your Barbie doll collection so that you can feel even more manly since that is apparently your goal.

Take care buddy <3
