The interesting thing is that there actually are significant differences in the way the game plays both when with useless players who are on the other side of the map, and also when you're carrying. Most notably about how spawning works, but also with how the enemies react. Being a good soloer has nothing to do with being good when playing with a team. They are often correlated, but not necessarily - and interestingly, I know some people who are very very good at soloing, and surprisingly mediocre in a full team. Soloing is a crap measure of an individual player's ability.
It can be argued the other way around, that you are relying on other players as aggrodumps and that you cannot handle the enemy focusing on you. It can be argued then that you are a weaker player because of such limitations, and that the players that solo well and do worse when you are there are simply taking your falls, and paying for your mistakes.
So they are likely good team players in that they enable you to play recklessly with little to no penalty and basically take all the points.
So it can be arfues that your "superior skill" is merely standing on the shoulders of giants if you cannot adequately handle the amount of aggro that you take even on Silver difficulty. It could be that you are very well relying upon these "mediocre" players a lot more than you realize
So, it can be argued that soloing measures a players indicidual, independent skill, and scoring high in a full team is not a measure of skill as it is a measure of recklessness.
With this in mind, I would not be so quick to bash these soloer's skills, or dismiss soloing as a "crap" measure of "Skill". It is very likely comparing apples to oranges.
