I have dragon age 2 activation key that I bought from amazon, so its not the disk game or a steam game.

This is what I have done so far:
-made shortcut for dragon age 2 exe file
-went to properties, added: (space)-enabledeveloperconsole
-went to settings and went to keybindings
-changed the open console command to Button_F6

I have done all of this and still when I hit F6 I can still walk around so its not working.

and I know for a fact ive done the following things right: entered the button_F6 in the right spot, entered -enabledeveloperconsole in the right spot with a space before the hyphen.

please help me out, im not sure if its because its downloaded from amazon and not a disk game or a steam download, or because im using windows 8, or what..

and I am on windows 8, but I modded it so I do have the start button in the corner on the desktop.

Have the same problem as you are having. I too have the retail version of the game and i have upgraded it to v1.04. OS system is win 7.Again any help would be appreciated

I have the disk version and the same thing is happening to me I would appreciate any help

It's a bit of a necro, but I'd like to post the solution to anyone that might be googling for this answer.

Open the file "\\BioWare\\Dragon Age II\\Settings\\KeyBindings.ini" in your 'My Documents' folder. Open the file in Notepad, then find the line that says "OpenConsole_0=Keyboard::Button_X" (GRAVE is default, change X to any button that is not already used in the game).   Make sure that OpenConsole=1.

You can also leave it as "Keyboard::Button_GRAVE" and then use the "backtick" character, which is located under the tilde. (Personal note: I use the z key) For Steam it seems binding the console to Tilde doesn't work for some people. Try binding the console to F6 if all other options failed.

Make sure you ini file is edited before you start up the game. With the edit and the change to the properties on the shortcut, you'll be set.
