Virtue's last Reward is free for PSN users. =o

If only I had gotten a PS3 back in 2011 instead of a 360. PS Plus seems like it's way better than Xbox Live

Well it's for the Vita...no one wants the Vita.

Oh not because of this specifically. When I play this game I'm picking it up on 3DS. I'm speaking about PlayStation Plus in general.

New interview with series creator Kotaro Uchikoshi! Massive spoilers throughout, so I'll just post this excerpt...

GR: So, how far in development is the third Zero Escape game?

Uchikoshi: The story itself I pretty much have developed in my head, but it hasn’t really gone into production yet. There’s no promises yet, but maybe in the near future we can proceed. This is all from the fact that I was invited to GDC to speak, and that we were nominated for best narrative. That sort of led to the users’ voice saying, “We want the next one,” and that is pushing it. Thanks to the users, the company has pushed forward with thinking to the next level of actual development, but there’s no promises just yet.

Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but it's better than "there are no plans as yet for another game", which seems to be happening to all my favorite game franchises.

Cool. Doesn't sound like I need to rush out and play through the second game just yet. I already have a lot of PS2, DS and 3DS games I need to buy.

Bump due to some bad news...

Zero Escape Series stalled due to low sales

This story needs a conclusion, not a cancellation.

Is this thread about this game here?

Image IPB

Because if it is, I literally just noticed that it's a half price download on 3DS until 06/03/14 over here five minutes ago. Small world.

I'm looking for another game for my new 3DS now that I've finished LoZ a link between worlds, is it worth £9.99 you guys reckon?

Also, I didn't play the first game, and I don't see a download option for it, will that be a problem?

YES.  It's worth the price.  The first game, 999, was on the original DS.  A ton of people would disagree with me, but I would say you can play Zero Escape on its own.  The problem is there's a lot of returning characters and plot devices from the first game.  You don't need to play the first to get the plot of Zero Escape, but Zero Escape'll spoil the entire story of 999.

Man, it's sad when even great games become commercial failures.

FYI, the game is called Virtue's Last Reward. Zero Escape is the series.

Was interested until somebody posted a pic showing the game was on a platform I could care less about. Oh well.

EDIT: Oh wait, it's on the Vita too -- Well then I'll be obliged to check it out.

Not to get into this, but this is probably the most ironic thing I have ever read about a Vita. That's like me going, "Oh wait, it's on the WiiU too!"

To all my homies with Vitas, I'm disappointed in you.

But you did get into it by replying so allow me to reply back.
While the Vita barely has any titles at all, except for a few I'm interested in, the 3DS has the same games that Nintendo has been releasing since the 90s of their supposed Golden Age -- I'll take the former if I had choose and I had to and I did. So there you have it. Moving back to the topic.

A puzzle game, eh? Sounds like Atlus' Catherine.

To be fair, most people want more of those titles, so I'm not going to blame Nintendo for releasing them. Blame them for their crappy hardware. Good titles that are still going strong>Five titles on a washed up handheld.

As to the actual topic that I keep getting away from, I might actually get the second one now. I only played the first, me not owning a 3DS until recently.

SquareEnix thinks that anything that doesn't make Final Fantasy sales is a failure, apparently.

They don't want more of those titles, no -- They want the same thing like the older days. They want Super Mario World SNES again, but with new graphics. That is to say that they don't really want new and or more of those titles. They want the same titles re-released again with pretty visuals. So that's what they are getting. Occasionally, Nintendo might be clever enough to make games like Galaxy or Wind Waker that breaks the norm of not adding in arbitrary gameplay functions that improve bugger-all. It's the bad kind of nostalgia -- But what you also must realize is that there is good nostalgia and there is bad nostalgia. The desire for things to stay the same, unmixed with people and concepts from outside our comfort zone.

We'll see how great this game the OP makes it out to be is I suppose.

Eh, it's close enough for them to keep making money. Somehow

That is to say that they don't really want new and or more of those titles. They want the same titles re-released again with pretty visuals.

All about making that cash doe. This is a good example. This game is great, I've tried the first and have heard good things about the second. It's won GoT awards. It's has great reviews, both by critics and fans. Doesn't matter, it doesn't have recognition. It's failing in the fanbase it was designed for. Nintendo is smar to appeal to its audience.

So that's what they are getting. Occasionally, Nintendo might be clever enough to make games like Galaxy or Wind Waker that breaks the norm of not adding in arbitrary gameplay functions that improve bugger-all.

Agreed. But if the fans keep asking for it, they'll keep getting it. That was the point I was trying to get across. Also, there are plenty of Nintedo games that do exactly what you are talking about with Galaxy and Wind Waker, if you look for them. Mario, Zelda, and the like aren't the only titles on the 3DS.

It's the bad kind of nostalgia -- But what you also must realize is that there is good nostalgia and there is bad nostalgia. The desire for things to stay the same, unmixed with people and concepts from outside our comfort zone.

It's not bad for making money. It's still a business. Also, plenty of Vita games, cough Jak and Daxter, GoW, Ratchet and Clank, Those other two games cough, are doing the exact same thing you are talking about with Nintendo. Only with a cheaper touchscreen.

We'll see how great this game the OP makes it out to be is I suppose.

It is. From what I've seen and played personally, it's a great game series.

Not with the graphics these games are pushing.
